They had a strong leader Attaturk who fought the west and literally banned Islam to make Turkey independent & powerful!! This was unlike India where leaders were supporting the Islamic Khilaafat movement ranging from MK Gandhi/Nehru then & Congress & pseudo liberals like him now!!
