I am 50 and work retail. I have sensory processing issues. I can miss details that many take for granted. I am blind in one eye and it takes a lot more effort to input and output information. It's never an excuse. If I do miss something, I ask co workers and friends to just tell me. I missed that a coworker is trans. I was embarrassed when a Supe told me and that Supe figured I was not trying to be malicious. I told my Supe that it takes no effort to be kind. I don't grasp fully what is in "her mind." But I do have Cerebral Palsy and grasp how others harass because of something that inborn within me. I figure that right now for trans folks is like being gay in The 80's. General hatred and more. My idea is what matters is don't be a jerk and I am cool with you. Live life in the way you see fit.

@wasabisniffles A therapist once told me that hatred is drinking poison and hoping that other person dies. The hurt will never truly fade, but I earn what made that person do what they did. I replaced anger with pity. Sadness that someone like Rowling had to be so afraid of trans folks-for no good reason.

I am a music nerd. I always adored the music of The Smiths and their lead singer Morrissey. I was an odd ball gay teen in the 80's and The Smiths just spoke to me. Morrissey has always been insufferable, but during The Brexit campaign of 2016, Morrissey publicly endorsed many talking points of Nigel Farage. Think Trump style politics with a posh accent and immaculate suit. I felt betrayed and that Morrissey had gone full racist uncle. Same with Eric Clapton. He famously had a drunken tirade on stage in 1976 praising Enoch Powell. He was 19th century imperialist and full on racist. Clapton's tirade inspired the Rock Against Racism in The UK in the late 70's and early 80's What settled my mind is something a friend told me. One can separate the art and artist. I can enjoy the music that I like in spite of the fact that Morrissey, Clapton and others are not good people.
