That Clarkson quote is the only time I will agree with him.

Jay Leno had a Bristol 403 on his channel and I was fascinated by it.

I saw Tedward drive a TR6 with a Ford 302 V8 engine swap. That was a total monster. The great British roadsters and cruisers were great fun. Then Triumph had to go make The TR7.....

As a music nerd, this is like listening to a 1st vinyl pressing of a classic jazz album like "Kind of Blue.." I can hear an MP3 of "Kind of Blue," but the old vinyl seems warmer and inviting with its imperfections. But "Kind of Blue" is the height of talent and sophistication. Compared to a current car, this e36 is analog and you are experiencing it as intended. It is still a highpoint of engineering. A template that other cars strive to match. That is glorious.

Nicely sorted. Though, as an American, nothing sounds as good as a burbling Detroit V8.

@Schlipperschlopper True. But a big Detroit V8 makes American me so happy.

My brother in law got a used Volvo S 60 about two years ago. I had to explain to my niece about my high school buddy's Volvo 240. That was in the late 80's. I told my niece to google "Volvo 240 wagon" because it was not like her dad's S 60 AT ALL. The 240 was a brick.

TVR and "Sensible?" No way. Nuh uh.

This Morgan is the bonkers of latter day TVR if they decided to update The MG TC. Expensive. Yup. Practical? Nope. A whole bunch of fun? Absolutely!

Ahhh the Ford 351! The Detroit Burble of that V8 is my happy place.

Lack of money starves the beast. But all you had to say was British Leyland. It was the kiss of death for so many British cars.

Why? It has a Cozzy!!

Porsche? VW? It's a pedantic argument made by gatekeepers. Kurt Lotz's giving all the costs to Porsche doomed the 914 before production even started. It's a shame because the 914/4 was the biggest seller among Porsches during its run. VW taking more of the 914's R & D and production costs would have allowed many more 914s to be produced. 80 HP in a 2100 lb 914/4 is solid and 100 HP in a 2.0L 914/4 is very good. I have seen POV drives of a 914/4 and 914/6 on Tedward's YT channel. The 914 is a light car with "just enough power" to be a fun go kart. You can be doing 40 mph, and it seems like you are doing 80. The same formula of "add lightness" did wonders for The Miata and many Lotus cars. Time has been kind to the 914 in the last 10-ish years. PS-crossover with Harry or I riot!!
