  1. The 5.56 round didn't kill outright. But the wounded soldier required someone else to protect him. That soldier then required medical treatment and time to recover. People had to care for him, and food was needed. It was a fantastic way to increase supply attrition than if a soldier was killed outright by a 7.62 Nato round.
