  1. Many modern cars deaden the sense of speed. You know you are going fast and then faster-but.... This 356 could be doing 40 mph, but it seems like 80 mph. You are low to the ground, out in the air, and fully engaged in a way that modern cars don't possess.

  2. The 356 followed Colin Chapman's "add lightness." Under 2000 lbs, with just enough horsepower Granted this car is 60+ year old technology, but you can see its charms. My dad had a 1968 Beetle when I was a kid. Air cooled engines, with proper maintenance, will last for a long time. Just keep the revs high. The worst downside to the old Beetles as technology was that there was no rust proofing. So many poor Beetles just rusted out.
