  1. This Z8 is an homage to so many older cars. The 507 (duh), Jag E-Type, MkII, Mercedes 6.3. Cars that could really "go," but were luxurious enough to be "gentleman cruisers." That phrase is so 60's. The only thing I remember from "The World is Not Enough" is that The Z8 was a perfect Bond car. Though the 750il caused some Bond fans to just lose it because "a BMW IS NOT BRITISH!!! ARGH!" I also have a sense of my mom's 1987 XJ6 with the J-Gate shifter. My dad's 1999 Mercedes 230K. The convertible hardtop was wizardry. I still miss my dad's XJ8. V8 and could cruise all day. This Z8 is a dividing line. Sure, electronics are everywhere, but not the main part of the show. I am going to old man screaming at clouds. Current cars with their electronics and infotainment screens put an emotional distance between driver and car. This Z8 seems more connected and I am part of the experience and not isolated from it.
