Potato chips maybe. Not computer chips. America doesn't produce that kind of engineers anymore. More than half of TSMC's new Arizona factory workers came from Taiwan. And the cost of US-made TSMC chips is higher than that of Taiwan-made chips, even with tariffs.

It's more about work ethics than knowledge. The recent graduates of American universities, particularly after George Floyd, are soft and woke. It's impossible to ask them to wear a cleanroom suit for 8 hours straight, or to respond to emergencies during off hours.

China is very concerned about equality, inclusion, and diversity in the U.S. military.

China already makes better and cheaper EV than the US. But American consumers are stuck with expensive and inferior cars because of the high tariff walls. It seems the same thing is about to happen with computer chips, which will affect every industry.

Apple iPhone owns 60% of US market. Yet no iPhone is made in America. (Mostly in China, some India, Vietnam and Taiwan.) Why does Trump not impose heavy tariffs on iPhone? "Make iPhone Expensive Again" probably not a good campaign slogan.

@darylfoster6133 Except when there's a war or crisis. I remember during Covid, the US couldn't even produce simple surgical masks. Since globalization, US has become a service economy. Most manufacturing jobs will never come back. If there's a war with China, the US is in trouble due to the lack of supply. Too bad that smart countries don't want what the US produces best: DEI.
