If your original American goods are already expensive to begin with, you're just lowering consumption entirely by making everything super expensive. Money doesn't come out of thin air, buddy. You can't tax yourself to get more money. The manufacturing already done in the US is expensive for a reason, and you can't hide that no matter what kind of nonsense you spew. Your fantasy dream of creating a cycle of infinite money where you pay your people high salaries to buy even higher price products violates the first law of physics, energy conservation. American goods are by default unaffordable, because you intentionally keep your currency level high as a leverage on other people. Why don't you go study basic math? Here's the first rule, studying the part of the system beneficial to you and then ignore everything else shall yield the wrong results.

@johncronin6977 Buddy, that also must includes the condition of devaluing currency to maintain a positive export rate. So you can't have both. Like I said, if you want to keep the dollar high, by default American products shall be more expensive. That's an actual fact unlike your fantasy. Germany, Japan and South Korea all need exports, and when the Japanese blindly follow the American dumb strategy of keeping their currency high, it stumped their economy. Learn some actual math, will you?

@johncronin6977 It's impossible for those more expensive products to make a profit if the people itself can't afford the products. You see, in the case of Japan, South Korea, Germany, and probably the US 100 years ago, their governments weren't extremely corrupt to let the private companies do whatever they want. But now the US does that, people have barely living wages are now forced to buy products that are much more expensive. Countless stuff is produced in the US, yet they still are expensive, where's the magic pixie dust that is going to change that fact? Show some respect, homie.

@johncronin6977 If you don't adjust the monetary policy, your industrial policy will be meaningless, buddy. All of the cases you quoted, they got rich because their products are affordable and they export them. If suddenly everything is way expensive, for example, the case of Germany after Russia invades Ukraine and Japan after the US backstab them, then the industrial policy will be meaningless due to bad monetary policy. But again, your situation is so messed up that it's not even the biggest problem. Your own people can't afford to buy cheaper products overseas, let alone the more expensive ones produced here. That's because of corruption. So why don't you wake up and stop believing in one liner fortune cookie solution to real world problems? Learn some math.

And if you want to maintain the price of the products, it has to stay low and again, no purpose whatsoever. You need serious math and physics education, buddy.

Unless you want to create an infinite cycle of raising wages for workers here so that the products get even more expensive and then you need to raise the wages again for them to buy the products they produce, there's no getting out of it. The only reason those jobs are viable overseas are because the wages paid overseas matches the low cost of living at those countries that are there because their currency value is low. It's just Math, ignorance is fatal, you have to go study.

For once, their export products require no kind of protectionism, they crush all of the competitors by pure competition. And if you think they steal your knowledge, that's not how it works. Knowledge belongs to mankind, not any single entity. America grew rich on the back of 2 World War while being protected by 2 oceans. Do not mistake dumb luck with excellence. The Germans have always been better than you at technological innovation .
