  3.  @dotar9586  I had to reset the timing belt on an old Ford Escort when I had to replace the water pump. That job was a pain. The Chilton's manual advised taking off the passenger wheel well to get to the water pump, but I went for the bloody knuckles route. Somewhere in the process, the timing belt came off to allow the replacement of the water pump. When I put it back on, the friend helping me had slightly moved the valve cam shaft, so when I put everything back together the car ran like it was burning coffee instead of gasoline. Has to partially disassemble and move the vale cam one tooth position, and "TADA!" the car ran great!
