@willc5512 Yet another reason to have front & rear dashcams.

@Necro-the-Pyro When we put in our THIRD mailbox in five months, we mounted it on a 4" pipe, anchored three feet into the ground with 100 lbs of concrete, the pipe filled with concrete. We finally stopped losing mailboxes, and the neighborhood drunk driver had to replace his bumper, radiator, grill, and front frame components. And he was shamed into paying for all three mailboxes he ran over.

@raymisuto9872 An important point for anyone living on a public road. the first few feet of "your yard" are (most usually) actually the municipality's "setback" . It exists in case they need to widen the road, then they can/will use eminent domain to claim an equal span of your yard in case another widening is required. This is a lot less of a factor in very old neighborhoods where the house is built right up against the sidewalk. - So if he DID have the money to build his own guardrail, or a steel-reinforced concrete crash barrier, or deeply-sunk bollards, or some other barrier, he might have to build it several feet back from the existing edge of the sidewalk. And that's if the zoning and planning board even let him do so. They could deny any barrier on the grounds of "safety" or many handfuls of other excuses. Or they could just sit on his request until he dies of old age.

If you are that anal about your yard, you should put up a fence at your own expense (in compliance with municipal regulations). Growing up, we had two neighbors with fences and one neighbor without a fence between us. At the fences, we and the neighbors talked about what plants we and they didn't want growing through, and took turns cutting and weeding them back. On the non-fence side, we and the neighbor would each mow about one lawnmower width across the estimated property line, and would never fight about whose leaves we were raking or from exactly which property they were raked. There was even a wide patch of lilacs along the back half of the property line, and we would talk about what would be trimmed back and how much. The key? We all TALKED ABOUT IT! No cops, no lawyers, no shouting (except to get someone's attention over a power tool!).

@franzpattison That driver should already be "suspended pending revocation of CDL"

I did not think it was normal for a plow to throw left from the left lane of a highway with no median. Whenever I see plows on highways, they're usually in a wedge formation, leading truck in the left lane, and all throwing to the right unless there is an open median, and only then did the left-most truck throw left.
