When someone asks your race, respond, "Human."

@lobsterminion693 A thousand years is ten centuries. A million years is ten thousand centuries. OP's statement still applies.
90
I am morbidly obese from a combination of medications, low-cost food choices, asthma/COPD, and numerous health issues contributing to a sedentary lifestyle. I am very anti-fat culture. I don't WANT to be fat. I find people at an unhealthy weight, high or low, unattractive. I try to not be fat, and I know I can do more, but it is a constant fight. One worth fighting.

I am white. That makes me a Person Of Color. My color happens to be white. Didn't choose it, can't change it, wouldn't even want to try. And my skin color is not equal to my value as a human being. Neither is anyone else's. So wake up, and improve your life or accept the blame.

A number of years ago I saw a show about one the US carriers where they interviewed various crew members who were on their way to deploy for a (not their first) tour during the second US war in Iraq. One sailor interviewed was Muslim, and was devout. He also secured permission from his religious leader (Imam? sorry, not sure on that) so he could pray without needing to face Mecca and miss prayers during his duty shifts, all without incurring any religious penalties. - THAT is the kind of religious participation (if that is your thing) that makes sense in a military environment.

@ebogar42 There is a MASSIVE difference between acknowledging that a material or connection has a range of tolerance, and just saying getting the math wrong is not a big deal. In fact, when designing and building structures, that range of tolerance must be part of your math. - Or you can just flipping "wing it" and have your structure kill people.
25
"Mommy, are these pictures and videos of you? Tommy said his dad had them on his computer."
24
Cosmetic surgery should be for reconstruction after injury, serious genetic flaws (hairlip, for example) or disease. That's it.
23
@majorramsey3k Indeed!
18
We got an all-female Ghostbusters, but we'll never get an all-male Sex and the City, will we?
14
Notice that she got louder and louder rather than debating. She is afraid of being wrong, but unwilling to admit she may be.
13
@ivorydeluxe1672 Dozens of eggs are consumed every year in the US!
13
I agree Rob, and not because of the knuckle draggers' "Women don't b'long in no combats!" But because the standards are standards for the safety of ALL in the unit, so that every soldier knows they can depend on each other to at least be competent to standards when under duress. Some people don't belong in combat. Some people don't belong in the military at all. But those who can meet standards and WANT to be there are the most valuable people in the military.
12
@stansman5461 It would change nothing for me. I already pray zero seconds a year. Atheism = free weekends.
12
@ebogar42 Oh, I've seen some "wing it" builds. But those tend to be smaller and/or unpermitted, uninspected structures like sheds, decks, and short retaining walls. - And overpriced kitchen remodels.

When my family moved from Massachusetts to Arizona in the 1970's the education was YEARS behind. I learned almost nothing, and was so bored, that I started getting in a lot of trouble. Only when I was moved to a school with "gifted" classes did my discipline problems go away, as I was actually learning things instead of finding my own way to fill the 6 and a half hours of boredom. - If all students are taught at the speed of the slowest, there WILL be boredom, and bored kids can act out in bad ways.
11
Kratos should have been voiced by an actual demi-god. Christopher Judge is as close as we have right now.
10
I only hate people for what they do and what they say. You know, the CHOICES they make, not the things they have no control over.

I live in the United States, and I feel grateful that I don't have any offspring to be poisoned by what the country I grew up in has become.
8
@MrSmith-ve6yo Meh, there's too darned many humans on this spheroid anyway. And with modern medicine, and only limited warfare, we're not dying at an environmentally sustainable rate.
8
I think part of why governments are overstepping is because of the ceaseless waves of stupidity that continue to work quite effectively against rational activity. One of the most useful parts of a government is the general welfare of its people. And when the people refuse to protect themselves, their children and the larger population from a preventable illness due to the screaming voices of ignorance, the government has to do something. They overreact, and miss the mark as well because government is, when all is said, a collection of flawed humans as well. - There are laws requiring seat belts, bicycle helmets, drinking age, flying aircraft only after being trained, and so many more things because of the stupid people we as a society have determined not to allow to kill themselves.

Not yet? They could also transition to making inks out of pulverized infants.

1981-84. Military BDU's (Woodland camouflage pattern), concert t-shirt, unbuttoned flannel over that, sneakers. I listened to Pink Floyd, Queen, Asia, The Doors, Iron Maiden and AC-DC. Loud.

I am 6'3" and overweight. (But not as overweight at Syndey's bookends!!!) I do not fly because the last time I did I could barely stand after a one-hour flight with my knees wedged hard enough against the seat in front of me to deform the back-plate of that seat. I also spend the entire flight holding my arms in front of me to avoid impinging on the space of the passengers to either side of me. I was in back, neck and shoulder pain for hours after that last flight.

How to avoid your racial guilt? #1: Learn that being born is not a crime. #2 Don't do things you would feel guilty for. #3: Stop letting other peoples' ideas live in your head for free.
7
I just imagined the following command in 1775 on a hill near Boston MA. "Don't shoot till you see the sclera of their eyes!" - "What? What's a sclera?" - "You know, the tunica albuginea oculi?" - "I don't understand you-" And the British regulars wipe out the entire force of colonists while they're arguing, and the revolution fails from lack of momentum and the loss of key leaders.
7
@edleskun2276 "Whoops, I accidentally spilled my cup of water on you." "Whoops, I accidentally stepped on your feet." "Whoops, I accidentally hit you in the face with my elbow as I tripped on you." "Whoops, I accidentally poked you in the eye when I had to climb over you."
7
@MKCarol-ms7lg Another way to get a say is to actually get involved in your school board and local government. But that takes effort and caring longer than it takes to tweet about it.
7
That worries me less, because therapy exists, than the idea that there will inevitably be kids who end their lives because of this situation and the cruelty of others.
7
That couple talking about how it was not right or legal for their kids to be harassed about Wifey's online content... A-holes don't care about right or legal. By the time you can even do anything about it, the damage is well and truly done.
7
I actively reject the word "woke" when it is used that way. It is "I am awake." or "The alarm clock woke me." NOT "I am woke." I feel the same about how the word "shook" is being used. Conjugate, don't muddy the communication with idiocy.
7
At this point, remake Red Dawn, but set it in North Korea and have the aggressors be people from Nigeria, but change nothing else.
6
@stansman5461 Pascal's Wager ought to be renamed "Chicken-shit's wager" because the whole idea of flipping on your convictions just because maybe, someday, you might have to face the consequences of your choices is a chicken-shit coward move. If your convictions are that weak on religion, be honest with yourself and declare as agnostic.
6
I rolled a mage when I served (mortars = ranged Thunderwave). I had a Ranger/Assassin friend (sniper cert, ranger tab) and a Cleric (medic) friend while I was in. Another friend tried to qualify for cross-classing to Mesmer, but he didn't meet the education requirements for his level (er, rank) in PsyOps.
6
@subhankarbaral9236 Yeah. If I was responsible, I'd apologize. But I'm not, so I will commiserate. - Side point (not aimed at you). A phobia is a fear. But when it's regarding homosexual matters, the suffix now means hate? Stop ruining language!

@davidking3699 And what about the sperm donors like mine who felt that gambling and sleeping around was more important than financial responsibility and staying with his own kids after 8 years. My sperm donor owned a home heating oil company, and somehow mismanaged THAT gold mine into a sell-off of his fleet of fuel trucks, service vans, and storage tanks on family land. We moved across the country because the bank repo'ed the house and the other creditors (some not entirely legal) were circling like sharks. - That male human was not a screw and scoot, he was a complete fuck-up.
5
And plane seats have gotten narrower and had reducing legroom gradually over the years, only occasionally pushed back by safety regulators mandating how much space a human needs.
5
It's okay to be whomever you are, so long as who you are is not infringing on the lives of other people in an unwanted and/or negative manner. Hand signals intentionally co-opted for an offensive expression are for children. Unless you mean the gesture to say "okay", in which case you are using it correctly, like a useful member of humanity.
5
On the other hand, many sperm donors leave the mother trying to hold the household together without ANY support of any kind for the children. That's how I grew up. About once a month, I hope my sperm donor dies (or has already died) in a slow and painful manner.
4
It's not just left, nor is it just right. It is ignorant and asocial people. They need to get the bleep off of our train so the engine can get us to the future.
4
@jessicah4462 I kind of liked dodgeball. Take a deliberate hit to the back right away, go sit down and take a nap.
4
Screw the art. It's the history that is being erased because of the heckler's veto that is dangerous. Don't erase the history you don't like, add the truth you want others to know.
4
@stupiddude6824 But Louisiana looks like an ankle boot with a short heel, which suggests that women only wear footwear that makes them attractive, which is bad. Move to Wyoming. Flat, rectangular, bland, where all forms of glorious personal difference can stand out! (I am so kidding, fellow ugly bags of mostly water.)
4
If I had gone to a school with that going on, I hope I would have been self-assured enough to use "White Boy" as my name, and to greet other white friends with "What's up my Whitey?" - goose - gander yeah?

If all men abuse/rape/murder women, then all men also landed on the moon and saved a puppy from a flooded river. And that also means all women drowned their children by driving the car into a lake AND all women also discovered how radiation works and computed the math to get all men TO the moon. - If someone wants to make misogyny a hate crime, they should be fair and make all crimes hate crimes. All of them. Kill someone? hate crime. Drop a burger wrapper on the side of the road? hate crime. Pay your taxes one day late? hate crime. Why? because if you committed a crime, you hate law!
3
@psychedashell Ehem… Cane toads.
3
Diverse? These are diverse ideas Hollywood has had in a long time.
3
Everything is racist to a racist, would be more accurate to say.
3
I, a tall man, get asked the abuse questions when I show up with bruises, cuts, or other injuries. And even when I don't. It is the policy at the doctors and hospitals I go to, if not the State.

1) When you say something over and over, you sound like you are reading lines. 2) If you are planning to talk to a large group, you often rehearse, and you sound like you are reading lines.
