I noticed this problem, without being able to fully articulate it, when they "remade" the movie Red Dawn.

I would also reference the scene in ST: TNG Redemption II [Data has been assigned to command the USS Sutherland] Lt. Cmdr. Christopher Hobson: Excuse me, sir. I'd like to request a transfer. Lt. Commander Data: May I ask why? Lt. Cmdr. Christopher Hobson: I don't believe I'd be a good first officer for you. Lt. Commander Data: Your service record to date suggests you would perform that function adequately. Lt. Cmdr. Christopher Hobson: No, no, no, that's not what I mean. I don't think I'd be a good first officer for *you*. Lt. Commander Data: Why? Lt. Cmdr. Christopher Hobson: Frankly, sir, I don't believe in your ability to command this ship. You're a fellow officer and I respect that, but... no one would suggest that a Klingon would be a good ship's counselor or that a Berellian could be an engineer; they're just not suited for those positions. By the same token, I don't... think an android is a good choice to be captain. Lt. Commander Data: I understand your concerns. Request denied.

@swaghauler8334 Meanwhile I had a 2nd Lieutenant who was incapable of keeping track of his own weapon, radio code book and even his helmet. I pretty much saved him about three years of ass-chewings with my constant cat-herding of him, keeping him out of the way of the E6 who was actually running the platoon.

I blame (at least in part) "participation trophies".

From Christopher Titus: "So Thomas Jefferson said "Every generation needs a new revolution". Now our grandparents had World War II, fought the Nazis. Our parents had the Civil Rights Revolution. Our generation has... Shamwow and Prozac. That's it, man. We just went through the worst decade since disco and how did we deal with it? We bitched on the Internet, got medical marijuana cards, and played Grand Theft Auto" This ties into Efe Aydal's post as well.

Also, if you listen to a story told by a 6-year old, you start to understand the Tarantino style better. As in, they start somewhere in the middle of the end, then sprinkle the beginning, middle and the end in unequal parts, leaving you wondering what really happened. And what the neighbor's cat had to do with their art class...

Hey, there is currently a surplus of Lensflarium in Hollywood, and it is apparently too expensive to store over the long term.

@krausewitz6786 All of these 'movements' have been vocal minorities of the total population. Even if the cause they are voicing is right AND righteous, it is still largely a minority expressing their concerns. And the quote I shared is from a comedian who uses humor to shine a light on life.

@Ishkur23 Wow. This is so... right.

I read a lot of good series written or co-written by Michael Anderle, and except for one series I have never been disapointed. - I recently stopped reading a 6 book series by a different author about halfway through book 2 because the characters were so MONUMENTALLY dumb. They would have a character development in one one part of the book, and shortly thereafter go back to square one in their decision making skills. I was actually shouting at the book at one point when it took almost three chapters for a character to ask another "What did you mean when you said _______?" instead of just ignoring them completely, when their insight had "saved the day" in the first book. (Also, it slightly irks me when characters on a space ship or in a building interact with "the ground" when they're actually interacting with a floor/deck.)

@crayonconsumer69 Yeah, low-grade remake with Chris Hemsworth in the lead. From 2012. In the remake the combined Soviet/South American/Cuban invaders are replaced by NORKS (North Koreans). Because North Korea somehow has the population and airlift capacity to invade the continental US all on their own? And it was the North Koreans after the filmmakers knuckled to pressure to change the script from the Chinese being the aggressors. Because kowtowing to China has been the modus operandi in Hollywood for decades now.

I can remember watching many an episode and trying to tell Picard through the screen, "Pay attention to the Klingon!" Then something happens, and the Klingon was right.
