  1.  @TSPLY  THE torso manikin took the blast, and there was no penetration if the inside later of fabric. There was no science about how much blast energy made it to the body of the manikin, and how much deformation into the chest there was from the blast. Was it like a flat push, or a small area punch pushing the sternum against the spine?

  3. The government should ban ALL social media from government owned/issued devices except where the use of that account is specifically a job requirement. Also, soldiers probably could benefit from a quarterly (every three months) briefing about the intel exposure from social media and live-linked applications on devices from computers to phones to fitness trackers.

  6. It is hard to credit it as an "accident" when the dangerous behavior led to the "accident". You can't claim it was an accident that your threw a baseball through a window when you were bouncing the ball off of the window frame right next to the glass. That is an unintended, but nearly inevitable, consequence of engaging in stupid and risky behavior.

  7. Huh. My ideas would agree with eliminating dumb busy work like the repetitive Conex sessions you describe. I never did one, but I my era was all about a supply room and loading to and from it. Another idea I would propose is to stop lying about time. If you tell troops that last formation is 18:00, a little slippage to 18:30 is fine, but jerking the chain to 23:00 is how you ensure people don't re-up. - A maxim in the business world is that a happy customer might tell one other person about their experience, but an unhappy customer will tell everyone that know, and with social media, that number gets rather uncountable quickly. Now lay that maxim over the experience of your troops, and you'll see that a LOT of things can lose you current and future troops. Investigate your criminal reporting in a timely and professional manner. Prosecute your criminals in a timely manner. Promote on excellence, not on relationships or simple time-in-grade. Do more to provide and incentivize paths to education and skill classes. Shorten and eliminate as many meetings as possible, use that time for training. Find the people who love "mandatory fun days" and lock them in a closet until they stop it.
