  2. Armed person with hoodie and mask? Not increasing feelings of safety, Armed person with "security guard" style of uniform? Less terror, still not feeling safe. - I don't see the need for long weapons for a small location security guard. Pistols and less-lethal (pepper spray for example) ought to suffice. If it is bad enough that you need visible long weapons to make the place "safe" then you're not in a safe location.
