The first electronic keyboard we had (in the 80's I think?) could only play one note at a time. - We did have an upright grand piano for a number of years that we got for free from someone who was "recommended to get that damn thing out of the house". It was badly painted a pea soup green, needed tuning we couldn't afford (two notes in particular had a different value for all three strings of the note), and the previous owner had put thumb tacks in all of the felt hammers to make a more "old west saloon" sound. Once we removed the thumb tacks it was a fun piano until we traded it for a polyphonic electric organ and a couple of couches.
