I hate that argument that people can just go to the ER. If people don't have the money just like they won't go to a doctor's office they won't go to a ER, either, since they do get billed. AND there is a lot of things they don't treat people for at the ER. Cancer check ups, other check ups they tell them to go to their doctor. If someone needs surgery they won't admit someone that doesn't have good insurance of the money unless it's life or death. Or at least that is the experience people have had that I know! Want to take that chance that the ER admits you for surgery before you die first? And then when you get that bill what then? If someone don't have the money? Bankruptcy? My state will take the money out of tax refund checks for people that get over 50 bucks back if they owe medical bills. If that money was needed to pay a house payment, car repair to get to work, or to fix something else, too bad! Such a bad argument so many give.
