  1. My heart still hurts for the 80+ year old man that his car was stolen with his dog inside and many other sad situations. I haven't heard they found that dog. For most that loves their pets they consider them family. Hope they find this dog and all the others.

  2.  @gottalovegabe1176  I absolutely agree! But so many let their dogs run loose outside of their home or not in a secured fenced in yard and then some of them get lost, stolen, or ran over. These people that got their cars stolen with their pets inside weren't letting them run loose but you are right they should not be left unattended.

  3. @ Not always safe. There was someone near me that was at work and their dogs home and their home caught fire from lightening. All three dogs perished and they are not the only ones that has happened to. People get sitters for their dogs then the dogs get outside and lost. I wish there was a 100 percent way to keep all of our pets and us safe. Keeping them with us or inside our homes, in a secured fenced in yard is about the best we can do?

  4. @ I already made it clear they should not had been left unattended but it happens more than you think dogs escaping sitters, fires, floods, so it's something just to be mindful of when pets are left home.

I didn't try to find this out but just happened to hear it listening to a fire chief about something to help save pets from house fires and if he's correct 40,000 pets perish a year in house fires. That's so sad. That's not counting floods or them escaping from sitters so I would say this is something IN ADDITION to not leaving pets unattended in cars or other places all pet owners should be aware of and try to have a plan just in case something happens when they aren't home with their dogs, cats. Like one fire fighter in CA said, you think it won't happen to you but that can happen to anyone. I saw our home as a kid burn to the ground so I guess that's why I am more aware of it than someone that it's never happened to. Luckily no people or pets were inside.
