Lynxxheart you can judge what's what all you want but that does not make you correct unless you have the kind of facts to back it up. In other words PROOF that a dog has not been trained to perform tasks for a disabled person is the only thing that would show they are fake! What you described that alone does NOT make a service dog a fake! A service dog has to be trained to perform the tasks necessary for their disabled owner. They do not have to be trained to not bark. Now to get in public places they do have to behave while there or they can be kicked out. A person hard of hearing trains their dogs to bark when their owners need to be aware of something they can not hear. But that's not the point the point is you can have either a service dog that behaves or a service dog that doesn't behave. If it does not behave that alone does NOT make it a fake service dog! A growling service dog should never be taken out in pubic but growling alone does not mean it's a fake service dog!

sparkplug T you need to make sure you clarify what is your opinions and what is the Law. People that think they know it all need to make sure they really know it all LOL A service dog has to be trained to perform the task the disabled person needs. They do NOT have to be trained to not bark or behave to be a service dog BUT they do have to behave to be allowed in public places. A barking dog, that alone does not determine they are not a service dog! And why would you pass on false information that insurance often pays for service dogs?

Well, I must had missed that part of your comments because what I responded to was your comment "Emotional support animals are pets that will snap and bark at other dogs because they aren't trained like service dogs" as I wrote I was just clarifying that a dog can be a service dog as long as they perform the tasks the disabled person needs even if they bark or have other behavior problems but as I also wrote those dogs can be kicked out of public places if they don't behave. Sorry if you made that comment before I made mine as I sure did miss it.

As I wrote I just missed that part.

Not all dogs are dirty just like all kids are not dirty, smelly, stinky, noisy, etc. OK, well most kids are noisy LOL Humans spread more germs than dogs do. But if a dog ever saved your life I just bet you would think a little differently!

Just to be clear if a dog is trained to perform tasks a disabled person needs then it is a service dog! It does not have to be trained to not bark, etc. BUT in order to be allowed in public places the dog does have to behave. So a service dog can either be a service dog that behaves or not.

I've read them!! As I wrote they can be excluded from public places if they are not behaved but if they are performing the tasks for a disabled person they are a service dog but I invite you to prove me wrong by pasting whatever you think proves me wrong! There is NOTHING in their definition that states they are not a service animal unless they are behaved!! I suggest you read the laws again! Q1. What is a service animal? A. Under the ADA, a service animal is defined as a dog that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability. The task(s) performed by the dog must be directly related to the person's disability.

Ok let me save you the trouble...........Please note the ADA still refers to the disruptive animal as a service animal. So tell me who needs to read the laws again? Q28. What can my staff do when a service animal is being disruptive? A. If a service animal is out of control and the handler does not take effective action to control it, staff may request that the animal be removed from the premises.

Just to be clear getting a fake Id that alone does not mean the service dog is fake!! Many disabled people that have service dogs that perform tasks for them think it makes things easier if they get those IDs. Yes anyone can get those IDS which means someone that does not have a real service dog can get them BUT disabled people with service dogs that are trained to perform tasks for them so they are real service dogs can also get them.

Not everyone that gets those Id's have fake service dogs! Just because the ID is not legit that alone does not mean the dog is not a legitimate service dog.
