@ant9228 No, it's not clear when it comes to diet. There are many factors that goes into health and diet is not a one size fits all but I am sure that Bernie would appreciate your concern for his health.

@ant9228 The problems with studies is people can cheat on them and you wouldn't know it so I don't put much faith in studies of people when it comes to diet but I am not saying that plant based diets won't reverse heart disease but I am saying it would be too hard to prove that alone reversed it or that those in studies like that were not eating foods that are not plant based but their heart disease still reversed because they ate a very small amount of foods that are not plant based but didn't report it in those studies. If someone is healthy on a plant based diet that's great and I would never tell them to change their diets but just saying I wouldn't tell someone they had to be on just a plant based diet to be healthy. Now, if their doctor tells them that then of course that's between them and their doctor. But you care and that's a good thing :)

@ant9228 small amounts of lean beef occasionally has not harmed anyone's health in my family or friends that I personally know some of them in their 80s that have avoided processed foods, sugar, chips, sodas, and other junk foods. But of course someone should decide for their own self what diet is best for them.

@ant9228 It can be disputed what that best available research is because there is no studies that can be proven that people didn't cheat on those studies. You can't prove what the entire diets were on any of those studies. Even if they had plant based foods you can't prove that they didn't have other foods, too.

@ant9228 "Controls" as in they watch them 24/7 everything they eat/drink? I find that hard to believe. I say again, if someone finds it is healthier for them to be solely on a plant based food diet that does not mean it would be healthy for anyone else! Diet is not a one size fits all! The only legit claim you can make is what diet is healthier for you! What a doctor tells their patient is the best diet is between them and their doctor. There are doctors that have told their patients to eat lean beef and I sure would not tell them any differently. There is no study on this earth that can prove someone had negative health effects from eating small amounts of lean beef occasionally when they were avoiding processed foods, sugar, chips, pastries, other junk foods. It doesn't exist where it could be proven. I have noticed some vegan sites are now having disclaimers there that they are not trying to take the place of medical advice because they know some people are not healthy solely on a vegan or plant based (same thing) diet. https://www.amazon.com/Defending-Beef-Case-Sustainable-Production/dp/1603585362?tag=theindep0f-20&ascsubtag=IN|8202121|1603585362 "The author―a longtime vegetarian―goes on to dispel popular myths about how eating beef is bad for our bodies. She methodically evaluates health claims made against beef, demonstrating that such claims have proven false. She shows how foods from cattle―milk and meat, particularly when raised entirely on grass―are healthful, extremely nutritious, and an irreplaceable part of the world’s food system." I am not dictating to anyone what diet they should or should no be on! I am only pushing back when someone seems to imply that someone else has to be on a meat free diet in order to be healthy. That may or may not be the case for a certainly individual but it's not up to us to tell someone that it is or that it isn't. But for me a 100% plant based diet is totally unhealthy.
