It's just as therapeutic to hold puppies, dogs, at shelters and from licensed reputable breeders! Maybe, they were better back when you got your dog but for sure where they get them from is absolutely a fact most are not properly cared for.

@macaelatice-loma1048 Not just puppies but all dogs and cats, and other pets need loving, caring homes. Before they get that home if they do, they don't need to feel the physical pain that comes from not being properly cared for and that will continue if something isn't done to help stop puppy mills. As a child my mom got one that we didn't know had Distemper when we got her. That was pretty heartbreaking, too, for the dog and us!

I totally agree on not selling dogs in every state unless licensed breeders and rescues but totally disagree to a law on chipping! Should be a choice on tags or chips. Dr. Karen Becker, well known and well respected vets and some other vets has talked about this. Chips are not entirely safe! And if someone steals a dog they sure aren't going to take them to get them scanned. If a dog gets run over chips won't help. People need to be responsible to not let their pets run loose where they can get lost, stolen, or ran over. Accidents do happen but yes, tags can be securely put on collars. Thieves can take them off just like they won't take a chipped dog to get scanned.

@LFMcD Did you even know some that have stolen them have removed them? Yes, that has happened. Did you also know they can move where they are not detected? That is not even counting the medical risks. That's good you have no problems that you are aware of but I am aware of what can happen and have had dogs for over 40 years and never any problems including their tags never came off. As long as there are any risks at all there should be choice that or tags.

@LFMcD Sounds like you care more about your choice then you do educating how pet owners can be more responsible such as not letting them run loose. How does chips help if they die being hit by a car? There is a lot to serious responsibility! Take it up with Dr. Karen Becker who doesn't say to not get them but gives the risk VS benefit and the risk of BOTH where the owners can make that choice.

@LFMcD And do you think the people that steal them care about what it says about who can remove them?
