  1. They are places of rememberance, you go there to grieve and feel connection with the deceased. And in Mexico they have a 2 day holiday (or is it technically 2 separate back to back hollidays?) Called Dia de los Muertos and Dia de los Angelitos (day of the dead and day of the little angels) which specifically include being in cemeteries over night for a happy rememberance of their deceased ancestors (day of the dead is for adults, day of the little angels is for children). Technically Memorial Day in the states is supposed to be spent in cemeteries remebering the dead (specifically dead soldiers). They aren't a fully outdated landuse, although there certainly are more efficient means of creating such places. (For instance the ultra creepy catacombs of Paris France, or in the modern day i imagine a skyscraper mousoleum could make sense as a place that holds urns of the cremated) Tldr, cemeteries are infact for the living but its weird to treat them like a typical city park.
