Bassman Njie you see, most today's Russians are distant descendants of serfs. And serfdom in Eastern Europe was rather harsh, so many Slavic peasants lived pretty much like slaves to the landowners. Having said that, I can't imagine Russians toppling statues of our great statesmen, philanthropists or war heroes just because some of them had serfs or treated them badly.
Additionally, even though the Russian Empire was a toddler compared to the British in how the two empire treated native tribes, some non-Russian parts of Russia faced some harsh treatment by Russian governors or generals, but then again, it is all our history, we respect these people for what they did to our country, not for their being good or bad people.
