  2. 0 c is the freezing point of water at sea level, if it were to only just be 0, the snow would rapidly melt in the sun

Where I grew up, in Albany WA, is a mountain called Bluff Knoll, gets snow sometimes, never seen it in snow but climbed it several times, the view is mind blowing, not keen on seeing it in snow cause you can't see anything, with the clouds, rain, snow, fog, etc. cold wet slippery, no thanks. LOL
