Fly populations will explode due to warm moist air, lots of livestock and agriculture (poop) and garbage in general. Enemy number one is spiders, then birds and then Dung Beetles, they consume and speed up the decay of poop before fly populations can get out of control, never the less, fly numbers are always pretty bad, imagine if we didn't have said fly enemies. Dung Beetles are released everywhere to combat flies. We have hundreds of natives, but several dozens have been introduced successfully that can handle a lot more shit. If you grew up in Aus it isn't soo bad, but is very distressing for tourists. Best tip is either a fly net, or what I do and get a small piece of a green branch off a tree and use it as a swat, keep swatting over each shoulder every few seconds, works a treat.
