Hiking on the Bibulmun Track, between Walpole and Albany on the south coast of WA, I came face to face with a big Western Red Roo, I'm just shy of 6 foot tall and it was taller than me, I just stopped, stood still and waited for it to bugger off, luckily it did, still managed to get a photo of it, that part of the track is through thick heathland so wildlife use the track too. If it was to get aggressive I would do what he said.
