The government who oversaw the nbn was voted out and the next gov stuffed it up by not going through with the original design, opting to continue using old cobber networks and not connecting directly to the homes, the original design would have put us at the top of internet service speeds. Don't want to get too much into the politics but that is the reason why, one gov setup a great plan, great idea, and the other goes no, no matter how good it is, just because they didn't come up with it, school boy stuff.
