During the 19th century, Britain wanted to continue drinking Chinese tea, but China did not want what the West had to offer, so Britain waged two bloody wars with China and force China at gun point to open our ports to opium, which we didn't want because it made us sick and was poisoning our people. Port cities like Shanghai were forced open to act as drug distribution hubs to spread the addiction throughout rest of China, and Hong Kong was taken and made into British colony. Even after Britain renounced its rule over its former colonies, Hong Kong was not fully returned back to China.

Chinese workers help manufacture products like smartphones, computers, appliances, electronics, toys, clothing, shoes, sneakers at affordable prices, to help keep inflation and the cost of living in other countries to a minimum. Think of the millions of dollars, people in other countries saved over the years on living expenses, thanks to Chinese goods, so that they can spend the money saved, on cars, apartments, and other luxuries.

Trump's tariffs won't last forever. Even President Trump will eventually have to step down once his term is over, and the next POTUS might just start reversing Trump's policies and lift the US-China trade war, thus restoring US-China trade relations to their previous pre-tradewar levels. President Xi on the other hand, abolished the term limits, so he'll still be guiding China years after Trump's tariffs are gone.

Jim Kirk You just because some Hong Kong teenagers and young adults booed Chinese national anthem, makes the entire people of Hong Kong hate the mainland? These young people haven't start work yet, apply for apartment and settle down with family, so how do they represent the whole of Hong Kong? Look at the working adults in Hong Kong, who have mouths to feed, families to raise and they are the ones who know Hong Kong needs the mainland. As for North Korean asylum seekers, China is allies with North Korea, so of course we turn over North Korean asylum seekers apprehended in China to North Korea as a gesture of goodwill between our nations. I mean, why damage our China-North Korean relations over the life of an individual, you tell me?

@Kiwi Stover Trumps tariffs are unpopular, even among American companies and farmers, so the next POTUS is likely to reverse Trump's policies. This is not the first time something like this can happen. For example, the previous Obama administration had the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) which had been in the works for 8 years, yet President Trump just cancelled TPP and withdrew USA, simply because he don't like Obama (Obama humiliated him with his birth cert) So the next US president might just reverse Trump's policies too. Given his policies unpopularity.

@mystickyclips35 The "stimulus money" isn't free and doesn't just come out of nowhere. It comes from American tax payer reserves and if it gets depleted throughout course of the trade war then American taxes will rise to maintain the farmers money.

@mystickyclips35 Chinese workers make products like smartphones, computers, electronics, appliances, toys clothing, sneakers, cheap so that inflation in America kept to minimum and cost of living in America is lower than it should be. Think of the billions of dollars Americans saved on living expenses over the years thanks to Chinese goods. Money saved that can then be spent on other pursuits like cars, luxury brands, housing, etc. By cutting off Chinese trade from your economy, Americans will suffer higher living expenses, especially if they have to pay more taxes to support American farmers with "stimulus money"

@mystickyclips35 You mock Chinese goods, then consider this question: Are American workers themselves willing to work for the same low pay as Chinese workers? If not, then prices of American goods will be higher as compared to Chinese goods and Americans will face higher cost of living as well as needing to pay tax to support farmers with stimulus money.

If not, then the cost of your products will increase, and all those cheap Walmart prices that Americans love so much will be gone and the cost of living in America will increase.

Steve Linseeds You Americans want to make trade fair? How do you expect China to do that with USA constantly threatening to impose sanctions on other countries? The United States is the most protectionist country in the world with over 800 of such policies, compared to China's 200-300 protectionist policies.

Steve Linseeds Loose gun laws in America use make it easier for people to commit crimes like armed robbery and so on. Because of this, law enforcement officers will sometimes shoot first and ask questions later because of the possibility of the suspect being armed with guns. Not to mention making it easier for all those mass school shootings by armed gunmen. How do you expect policemen to properly enforce the laws if the criminals have access to firepower equal to theirs?
