+niknsync What makes you think that every infrastructure projects are debt traps? In South Africa, China has helped built roads, railroads, schools, hospitals, hotels, shopping centers, football stadiums and telecommunication projects to help develop their economy. So what makes you think CPEC will turn out to be debt trap at all?
As for Sri Lanka, it should be noted that not every business transaction is going to be successful all the time. Chinese banks offered loans to Sri Lankan government to build infrastructure, and President Mahinda Rajapaksa borrowed too many loans, until Sri Lanka was unable to repay it all back. Nevertheless, leasing the port to Chinese companies for 99 years is to help ease Sri Lankan government from spending all its revenue repaying loans, and to allow it to spend its money elsewhere instead.
