  1. Chinese government always repeatedly stressed that India is welcome join in Belt and Road Initiative. The OBOR is massive project that involve geopolitical issues of many countries, so China can't afford to cater only to India's concerns and ignore everyone else. Pakistan already joined the OBOR, so of course China will address its issues first, over India's who hasn't committed to the project yet. Pakistan and India been fighting over Kashmir for 70 years, so this OBOR and CPEC actually offer a rare golden opportunity for the two countries to cooperate economically instead of confronting each other.

  2. China has helped India's neighbors like Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh to by investing and building infrastructure in those countries to help develop economies. But Indian media constantly portraying this as surrounding India that's all. China can already bypass India with CPEC reaching Gwadar port to grant access to Indian Ocean, but of course, India joining in OBOR will help prevent India from being isolated.

In South Africa, China has helped built roads, railroads, schools, hospitals, hotels, shopping centers, football stadiums and telecommunication projects to help develop their economy. So what makes you think CPEC will turn out to be debt trap at all? As for Sri Lanka, it should be noted that not every business transaction is going to be successful all the time. Chinese banks offered loans to Sri Lankan government to build infrastructure, and President Mahinda Rajapaksa borrowed too many loans, until Sri Lanka was unable to repay it all back. Nevertheless, leasing the port to Chinese companies for 99 years is to help ease Sri Lankan government from spending all its revenue repaying loans, and to allow it to spend its money elsewhere instead.
