@aribethdetylmarande8228 The Chinese Communist Party is not perfect (then again, which government body is?) but despite its initial setbacks, under its leadership, China's population doubled, our lifespans doubled, our literacy rates doubled and our poverty rates fell. China was once a dirt-poor, war-torn, starving country like India in the past, but today, China is world's 2nd largest economy, the manufacturing hub of the world, protected by world's largest land army, the People's Liberation Army, and funded by world's 2nd largest military budget. All while under the CCP leadership.

@aribethdetylmarande8228 said "What I stated is that if the government (not necessary to be CCP, can be
any party) made a decision to adjust China economic system into Capitalism, China will grow and develop."
That's not what you said, you said "Since China had never been ruled by other party, how do you know that China cannot gain similar economic achievement under leadership of a different government?" as I quoted previously. Yet you are accusing me of twisting concepts? When did you ever mentioned capitalism at all? You had proclaimed that China had never been ruled by other party that's all.
Also, during the KMT administration of China, Republic of China was capitalist too but after the fall of the Qing Dynasty in 1912, China underwent a period of instability and disrupted economic activity. The KMT seized control of private banks in 1936 and replaced the China's currency by stamping out the earlier silver and gold-backed notes that had made up China's currency previously. However, this led to hyperinflation, as the KMT began printing notes en masse. Initially, a total of 1.4 billion Chinese yuan was issued in 1936, but by the end of the 2nd Sino-Japanese war some 1.031 trillion in notes was issued) So how did China experience growth and development under KMT?
And you know why the USA abandoned KMT during the Chinese Civil War? Because KMT was corrupt, and pocketed some 750 million dollars worth of US military aid, until even the US president Harry Truman wrote that "the Chiangs, the Kungs and the Soongs (were) all thieves."

In the past, Hong Kong was a unique Chinese port city, a world finance center closest to mainland China, but today, Hong Kong has since fallen behind and been overtaken by rising mainland cities in the area like Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Ningbo-Zhoushan, and is facing similar levels of competition from mainland cities like Qingdao, Tianjin, Xiamen, Dalian, and so on.

Shanghai in particular, has become global financial centre and transport hub, so its no wonder why some Hong Kong people feel that Hong Kong is losing its "uniqueness" as it has fallen behind other rising mainland cities.

@basshunterdota625 China today is currently at peace and not at war with any country, since our last major conflict in 1979. Instead of making war, China is building infrastructure like roads, railways, highways, bridges, tunnels, powerstations, dams, ports, airports, etc and investing in developing countries like Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and also African countries like Nigeria, Kenya, Chad, Sudan, Ghana, Mozambique, Tanzania, etc.
Whereas the United States is warmonger being involved in Gulf War, Iraq War, Afghan War, Libyan War, Syrian War, Yemen War, etc, even in the 21st century. USA is bombing in those Middle Eastern countries and enacting regime change by cutting off their "heads" (Saddam Hussein, Muammar Gaddafi, etc) and then installing their own US puppet governments in place.

@williamplayfair364 I read Peng Shuai's post (full translation available on Reddit) and while Peng Shuai was emotional and had a tumultuous, on-and-off relationship with a much older man, spanning several years in fact, there are no allegations of sexual assault in her post. She even wrote in her post that the sex was consensual. Peng Shuai wrote:
Taking into consideration the affection I had for you seven years ago, I agreed... yes, we had sex. Romantic attraction is such a complicated thing that explain it clearly. From that day on, I renewed my love for you. Throughout my time with you after that, purely based on our interactions, you were a very good person, and you treated me well.
So according to Peng Shuai's post, she consented to sex so it turns out that the allegations of sexual assault made by WTA are not true after all.

@PasscodeAdvance The Republic of China (Taiwan) claims more territory than People's Republic of China. Not only do they claim all of mainland China (including Tibet, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Manchuria, etc) but also territory currently under the control of Mongolia, Burma, Bhutan, India, Japan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Russia and Tajikistan.

China's strategy has produced many successful Chinese companies like Huawei, Lenovo, Xiaomi, ZTE, Oppo, Haier, DJI, Alibaba, Tencent, Baidu, JD, China Mobile, China Railway Construction, Sinochem, China Construction Bank, Agricultural Bank of China, ICBC, State Grid Corporation, Sinopec Group, China National Petroleum, PetroChina, State Construction Engineering, China Minmetals, Ping An Insurance, Shenhua Energy, Meituan-Dianping, NetEase, and this list is not exhaustive.

List of largest banks wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_banks
Fortune Global 500 wikipedia.org/wiki/Fortune_Global_500
Forbes Global 2000 wikipedia.org/wiki/Forbes_Global_2000
So if China can continue to churn out successful companies for China, then why is there a need to open up our economy more? Why give advantages to foreign companies wanting a bigger slice of China's market? We should develop our own companies locally to be capable of rivaling that of US companies, so that the profits remain in China instead of going to foreign companies.

@himanshusingh5214 The Westerners believe in "free market" system, which is likened to a wild, untamed river, flowing to and fro according to market forces. Would you let the river flow unchecked and cause widespread destruction to your markets? Because that is what happens in a free market, and that's why USA let its market get flooded with cheap Chinese goods, and US companies are allowed to escape to low labour countries like China and Vietnam and set up here.
The Chinese government's approach is to "tame the river" by building a "dam" and controlling the river in order to maximise the benefits to China. China has a large market which is why many foreign companies want a slice and our own fledgling Chinese companies would surely perish if exposed directly to global competition from Western companies, so the government "shields" them and provide a home advantage to local companies to allow them to compete with foreign companies. For example, China block Western websites like Facebook, Google, YouTube, etc, and develop our own equivalents, like Weibo, Baidu, YouKu, etc, so as to deny profits to the foreign companies. Once our local companies become strong enough, they can slowly start expanding to foreign markets outside of China. Huawei and Lenovo are two examples of Chinese companies that have expanded to overseas markets.
China's approach is apparently very successful, because the above listed Chinese companies are products of China's strategy. Those companies I mentioned would probably not exist today, if not for the government strictly limiting foreign companies in China.

@himanshusingh5214 How is what I am saying equivalent to what Qing did? I am not claiming China should close off ourselves completely, I am saying China should regulate our market ourselves in a planned economy in order to maximise the benefits to China. I am clearly describing that China should not adopt a "free market" system, and I clearly stated my reasons for not doing so, such as letting foreign companies flood our markets, and strangling our local companies.
I mean, Chinese companies like Huawei, Lenovo, Xiaomi, Alibaba, Tencent, etc, wouldn't exist today, if not for Chinese goverment offering home advantages to local companies to enable them to compete with foreign companies. Why can't we continue on this path then? We should be developing our own local companies to be capable of rivaling that of US companies, so that the profits remain in China instead of going to foreign companies.

Himanshu Singh Again, you keep making the same point again, without going into actual detail. How is CCP being similar in thinking to Qing dynasty? Qing dynasty was complacent and neglected military development, that's why China was invaded by technologically superior British and Japan. The CCP learns from the Qing dynasty's mistakes, that's why they channel funds into developing our military and in fact, the PLA is funded by the world's 2nd largest military budget.
For example, the PLA Navy has completed 2 aircraft carriers of our own, the Type 001 Liaoning 辽宁 in 2012, and recently in 2017, the Type 001A aircraft carrier, and still have 2 more carriers in production. China also commissioned a new guided missile destroyer, the Type 055 with displacement of 12,000 tons, equipped with 130 mm deck gun, 2x 64-cell Vertical Launch System quad packs, anti-ship cruise missiles, land attack cruise missiles, anti-aircraft missiles, anti-ship missiles, anti-submarine rockets and torpedos, and many more.

So how exactly is China not learning from the world?

@J Doe More than any country, China has the world's most outbound tourists, which is why more and more countries are catering to Chinese tourists, offering tours in Mandarin, etc, to cash in on Chinese tourists. Even in education, your Western schools and universities are flooded with Chinese students, and many Chinese students compete with your local students for university spots, in examinations and also for jobs when they graduate.

So what makes you think Chinese people are oppressed like you claim? Even in the Internet, Chinese language is the 2nd most common language in the Internet, only behind English at number one, so why you claim that Chinese people can't discuss things on the Internet? There are so many Chinese websites and forums where Chinese discuss issues so why you claim Chinese can't discuss issues on the Internet?
Source: Top Ten Internet Languages (Chinese is 2nd) internetworldstats.com/stats7.htm
Seriously, have you even stepped out onto the street (wherever you live) and grab a Chinese person in your area and talked to them? Why you think Chinese people are oppressed then?

@aribethdetylmarande8228 So to sum it up, since China has experienced massive development, alleviation of poverty, transforming a once dirt-poor, war-torn, starving country in past, into world's 2nd largest economy, the world's factory (Made in China) having world's 2nd highest R&D spending, protected by world's largest land army, the People's Liberation Army, funded by world's 2nd highest military expenditure, then why not allow the Communist Party of China to continue governing our country? China's political system has shown to be viable for our country and extremely successful to boot, so why abandon our political system and adopt democracy?
Not all countries have to adopt Western democracy to be successful and China is living proof of this.

@C B What makes you think nobody in the world is interested in China anymore? According to World Tourism Rankings, China is the 4th most visited country in the world, after France, Spain and the United States, seeing some 62.9 million international tourists in 2018.
Source: World Tourism Rankings wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Tourism_rankings#Most_visited_destinations_by_international_tourist_arrivals
China is also the most popular tourist destination in Asia, surpassing even other Asian destinations like Japan, Korea, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, etc.

@J Doe What makes you think the mindset of Chinese of 5,000 years ago, would respect Hong Kong or Taiwan independence today? Did you read Chinese history before? The First Emperor of China, Qin Shihuangdi, unified China by conquering the other provinces (bloodily) and proclaiming himself emperor of Qin Dynasty China.
And historically, Chinese emperors were always afraid of independent states breaking loose from China, so what makes you think a Chinese of 5000 years ago would simply let those states go? You don't even know Chinese history, yet presume to think Chinese people would let those territory go?
You think "democracy" is somehow better? Then why historically, many countries and human societies choose to have political power concentrated in the hands of the few, instead of the many? For example, nobles (aristocracy) priests (theocracy) or kings and emperors (monarchies). Such political systems were commonplace historically, simply because they worked! The elite minority were oftentimes well-educated and politically savvy to make important decisions for the country, instead of the uneducated masses.
I mean, why let the ordinary people decide what's best for the country? Why not let the people who know how to lead, lead?

@J Doe "@神州 Shenzhou - Trump We'll be getting rid of him in 2020."
That is exactly the major flaw of your American system. Your US presidents have to step down after their term is over (4-8 years) so they can only make short term plans for America's future at the most, instead of long term plans spanning, say 10 years or more. Whereas the Chinese government has put forth many 5-year plans, 10-year plans, 20-year plans, 30-year plans, etc to map out China's direction and future in 2020, 2030, 2040, 2050, etc, and to set specific goals for China to achieve. Some of these goals include (but are not limited to):
-By 2020, China plans to eliminate poverty completely and establish moderately prosperous society.
-By 2025, China plans to transform our manufacturing industry to incorporate high-end technology.
-By 2030, China plans to be world leader in Artificial Intelligence
-By 2035, China plans to be key innovative, scientific power and establish moderately socialist society.
-By 2040, China plans to ban all fossil fuel powerplants and all non-electric vehicles for greener future.
-By 2045, China plans to be world leading space nation, having established a space elevator.
-By 2050, China plans to have surpassed the USA as global superpower, economically and militarily.
Source: Xi Plans to Turn China Into a Leading Global Power by 2050 bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-10-17/xi-to-put-his-stamp-on-chinese-history-at-congress-party-opening
By abolishing the presidential term limit, our leaders can remain in power long enough to see their plans for China bloom and come into fruition in the future. But US leaders can't make long term plans for America, because they have to step down when their term is over.
Can't you see the big flaw in your system here? Why is China surging on ahead, while America is in decline? How are numerous 4-8 term US presidents going to compete with Chinese leaders of limitless terms?
1
-
@J Doe China has 5000 years of history and is among the world's oldest 'continuous' civilization still alive today, whereas other great ancient civilizations like Mesopotamia, Rome and Egypt have since succumbed to history. And the CCP today is gearing towards ancient Chinese political system (like abolishing term limits for example) President Xi Jinping is like a Chinese emperor, surrounded by his court of ministers and officials, in the form of the Communist Politburo.
I mean, China has a wealth of experience, in the form of political literature, governing manuals, military textbooks and whatnot, to help guide our leaders in governing the world's most populous country. And look at Hong Kong and Taiwan, they were traditionally part of Qing Dynasty China, so why can't People's Republic of China claim those territories then? I mean, the United Nations has recognized PRC as "the only legitimate representative of China".

As you can see, mainland China would be hardly affected economically. If only Hong Kong was fully returned back to China, then Chinese government can help develop Hong Kong to catch up with other rising mainland port cities.

@bobleponge1853 Australia is arguably the hub of anti-China sentiment in the West. Have you actually read Peng Shuai's post (full translation available on Reddit)? There are no allegations of sexual assault in her post, and she even consented to sex. Peng wrote:

On February 7, 2022, Peng participated in an interview with French sports newspaper LEquipe. Where she said there had been a huge misunderstanding surrounding her accusation of Zhang, her disappearance from the Chinese internet, and her well-being, reiterating "I never said anyone sexually assaulted me". Peng also said the Weibo post resulted in an enormous misunderstanding from the outside world. Her wish is that the meaning of this post no longer be skewed and that she erased it.
It's her private life and she has expressed her desire for privacy, but Western media would have none of that and they are demanding that she appear in public to bare her private life for all the world to see.

And its all been achieved under single-party authoritarian CCP leadership! So what's wrong with letting the CCP guide our country into the future? China is no longer the weak, easily bullied nation we were once in the past, thanks to the CCP.
Otherwise, can you prove me wrong? Why is the mainland surpassing even Hong Kong?
