  1. +Shanghai Noon I agree, China may have once been democratic under Sun Yat Sen and Jiang Jieshi, but there were still various warlords and infighting and Mao managed to accomplished unification of China. A unified country is strong, a divided country is weak and fights among itself.

  2. +Siyuan Guo China had been fighting Japanese alone since 1937, 5 years prior to Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor but most western media focus on the point when USA joined the war. Western powers (League of Nations) did not consider China important enough and allowed Japan to claim more and more Chinese territory for 5 years before joining in. Even then, it was because of Pearl Harbor that they joined in.
