  2. Studies have shown East Asians to be among the world's most diligent and intelligent peoples with long histories and rich cultures. Why can't East Asians put aside our minor differences and instead notice the many similarities that we share as East Asians?

  3. Not to be overly boastful, but many studies have shown that East Asians are among the world's most diligent and intelligent people, with long histories and rich, diverse cultures. Western powers are strong because EU (28 countries) is united together with America (50 states). Even in South East Asia, there is ASEAN group that caters to the regional interests of South East Asian countries. So why can't we have a unified East Asian union as well, that caters to our own regional interests as well?

  4. Japan has been bound by 1945 WW2 surrender treaty (Article 9 of Japanese constitution) never to build its own military beyond that of a self-defense force. Why is Japan still bound by this 70 year old treaty? Even Japan's WW2 ally, Germany, is no longer bound by such treaty, and can build up its own military to as powerful as it wants. Imagine another 70 years into the future, and while China's and Korea's armies have grown, and Japan is still bound by WW2 treaty.

  5. BRICS was founded ultimately to challenged the Western economic dominance on the world. If the West succeeded through the use of corporate led economies and capitalism, then what is wrong with BRICS wielding the same weapon against the West? We must first defeat the West first using its own weapons, before we can begin changing the economy of the world.

  6. +Motoko Cheng Well you are entitled to your own opinion. Its true that our government controls the market, but if the government decides to open the market, it will be in a controlled release to reduce impact on local companies. World economy can be likened to a wild, untamed river. It can be beneficial but it also can be harmful to people. Our government carefully monitors and introduces policies to protect our local industries from being overwhelmed by external companies. Western governments have a free market so they are exposed to unpredictable conditions, which is why they are being flooded with Chinese goods. So, our government has kept the local companies booming, but is slowly releasing the valve to allow a more free market, but while still being under government protection. Its not a perfect system, but it has helped us in the past. Of course, the river analogy is overly simplified, but its the closest analogy I could think of. The slowdown is to cushion for a soft landing, not a hard landing like all those previous reports said.
