BBC struggle to explain the difference between Muslims and Islamists (generally considered to be a distinction between peacful, apolitical religious believers and a group of theocratic political religious believers)...probably because there is little evidence to back up a distinction if you take a literalist view of the Koran and the life of their prophet being the perfect life... the natural logic, once you take a literalist view of the direct line of divinity, is that the Islamists are the only real muslims. The islamists would be far more recognisable to their prophet than many people who identify as muslims but live in a very secular society.

@redset11 it is often said that Islam is the fastest growing religion...but I suspect they are growing not by adult converts, but by having children who have no choice but to believe.

and the direct line of divinity of the message of the Koran is a central tenet of Islamic belief. The word of God was directly revealed to Mohammed and the word has not been changed over time. They believe that Mohammed was the last prophet so presumably the Koran is the last utterance of God...so you kind of have to take it literally...no amendments are expected or accepted...

i don't think that Emily regrets anything she says...ever! I too gave up TV and licence fee.
