@FastJetPerformance really well written but shows the flaws in our political system. Very damning portrait of the permanent secretary in justice ministry (strutting ideologue peacock was the impression i got), some awful tribal politics amongst tories, and some amazing passionate local people who just want to get stuff done. I found Rory a bit hypocritical in the book. He talked about the successes he had in Kabul at local level using local expertise....but as soon as he was a minister he wanted to do top down stuff...

@FastJetPerformance 😉 i think people would trust you with their tax money more than the current lot. I Agree re. Uniparty issue though. The SDP party (yes, SDP, the one from the 1980s with David Steele and David Owen etc) seem strong on immigration and they have a strong sense of nation. Right of centre on social matters, left of centre on economic issues. They don't want to sell the national assets to the highest bidder. They believe in investing in Britain for British people. The reason why you haven't heard of them is because they are small and not part of the uniparty. They have a candidate in the London mayoral election, Amy Gallagher. Sensible, anti-woke. Can't win, obviously, because of lack of media support but she uses the process to put forward sensible arguments.
