The problem with Ana, and TYT for the past few years, is constantly adopting right wing nomenclature and framing when fighting against right wing nomenclature and framing. They've also gotten into this habit recently of getting into these twitter fights with people to the left of them and it's starting to become reminiscent of the Democratic party establishment punching down to progressives when getting criticized from the left. I don't know the details of these fights, but these weird beefs come through in their reporting where they claim that people on far left are okay with crime, etc. and I have no idea who they're even talking about. There are much more productive ways of having these discussions and twitter robs people of that, but to pretend that inclusive phrasing somehow minimizes you as a woman is pretty absurd. It's like when the right wing says that gay marriage somehow minimizes their marriage.

I know exactly what their takes were back then compared to now. Not only are they doing a right wing shift and right wing appeasement, but even their journalistic standards have slipped quite a bit. They used to criticize politicians for putting their finger in the wind and using polls to determine their stances on issues and now that's all they do. They refuse to acknowledge that "new media" is just as bad if not far worse than "mainstream media", because they're part of the problem that new media is facing.   22. Yeah, I think a lot of people growing up in the wake of the Iraq war has really slanted people's views towards foreign policy. The fact is sometimes being friends with the biggest kid in class, who is a little crazy, prevents you from being picked on by the bully sitting next to you. Like it or not, the US plays that role for some countries and if we don't "saber rattle" every so often, then countries lose their sovereignty. We can't exactly say "We're still not going to start a war if you march into Kiev", because that just gives Putin a green light to invade. Simply saying "tut-tut" to someone who wants to consolidate power and secure his legacy doesn't do anything. Also, if you don't have sanctions that effect the Russian people, then you're not going to have sanctions that effect Putin's popularity.

I would not be surprised if she switched parties after 2020, because I do think she would run as a Republican if it helped her politically. People jumping on the Tulsi-train really need to look at her past comments on gay rights, torture, Syria bombing, government shut down, Israel, Kashmir, etc. As well as her waffling on Medicare for All.

  31. It's interesting how when people voice opinions that are different from your own, or give air times to opinions you don't like, they're suddenly "panderers and grifters". I believe that's the case when it comes to Jimmy Dore or Dave Rubin, but I really don't think that of Joe Rogan or Russel Brand. They're already wealthy and established with no real reason to "grift". These are the same people you celebrated when they had opinions you liked. I really like you guys, but a lot of times there's a kind of elitism to your commentary that occasionally makes me cringe. Often times you act as if people who voice differences of opinion are not just wrong or have a disagreement, but they must be nefarious and morally corrupt in some way. I think this attitude turns a lot of people off. One of the things the things that I miss about Michael Brookes is that he often brought humility to the show and understanding where people are coming from. Instead, you tend to just jump down the throats of anyone moving a centimeter outside of your narrative and label them as monsters or idiots. A large part of the appeal of people like Rogan is not pretending he knows everything at every moment. Which makes him approachable. Like MB used to say "meeting people where they are" instead of just talking down to them all the time,

Rational people explain their position, they don't just start screaming into the void because someone thought they weren't being critical enough. My response to anyone saying I'm not critical enough to someone who supports what's going on in Gaza would be "you're right", because it would be really hard to be too critical. There are many on "the left", like Ana from TYT, who downplay the right wing talking points and rhetoric which lead to violent attacks like this. You will not find solidarity from a "moderate left" who doesn't understand the issue and will only undermine your efforts in order to make themselves sound reasonable. The only way is to force people to listen regardless of their political ideology. This is what MLK understood. Bigotry and racism is not left/right issue regardless of how it leans heavily to the right.

As soon as you give EVERYONE in the country an extra $1000 a month, then rent and various other prices are just going to skyrocket and then you'll have inflation, because you've artificially increased demand. Then over the next few years all of our safety nets are going to get weaker and weaker. Giving everyone money an leaving it up to the market to take care of everybody is kind of a horrible idea. The reason we have elected representatives is to have people who can be in the weeds with positions that can't be discussed openly. I get the concerns, but issues of war and peace are a totally different animal than talking about healthcare or drug legalization. There is no bullet list of demands for what Russia, Ukraine wants, or "the west" wants. EVERYONE wants as much as they can get and creating some kind of arbitrary list for the US to get behind (and for other countries to criticize or use as leverage) is ENTIRELY UNPRODUCTVE while fighting is still going on. The only purpose to creating such a list would be to make you feel better. I can also guarantee that the average US citizen doesn't care about those details either.

  75. First off I really don't get the sentiment of not wanting police to participate in the protests or speak in favor of the movement. In my mind it only gives the cause more moral legitimacy if there are cops acknowledging that there is problem. In fact it caused a Republican I know to support the protestors when they saw that. It's the same mentality of not wanting men to support women's issues or white people to support minority issues. You need EVERYONE and it's ok to take "yes" for an answer. Secondly saying we should "cut the police budgets" is just as silly as Republicans saying we should "cut government". Cut what exactly? Their salaries? Amount of people patrolling? Equipment? In many cases police crack down on poor people more just to make up budget shortfalls with tickets, car impounding, etc. I don't think blanket cuts is the answer when the problem is a regulatory one. You may end up changing the budget to demilitarize the police while at the same time ramping up psychological evaluation and community oversight. There are plenty of communities that could use MORE cops, so just cutting budgets is not an answer.

  77. It's literally common knowledge the poverty + population density correlate directly to crime. The fact that different minority groups have different rates of crime is irrelevant to the overall driver of crime. There are also studies that have clearly shown black children start to see themselves as "bad" at a very early age simply because of how black people are perceived in that society. So while he might be correct that culture can effect crime, he seems incapable of understanding that the "culture" he's referring to is also based on forces that have been acting on those communities for generations and not just the communities themselves.

  78. Guys.... There is a very real threat to artists, graphics designers, photographers, and writers who are suddenly finding themselves in dead in careers because of AI. People are losing jobs TODAY because of this and many artists are having their work and design techniques stolen. The next thing will be AI video which will impact animators and other content creators. Obviously it doesn't have an impact on political punditry on YouTube, but lets not undercut the real impact this is having in the workforce for certain kinds of professions.

I don't know if it was because I'm black and in his mind he assumed I would be looking forward to drugs, but I'm actually the opposite so I started freaking out. I was like "What? I've seen people waste millions of dollars on nothing more than corporate politics and complete incompetence. Showing that you're spending money becomes more important than doing a good job for your clients. Venture Capital and speculation are just other words for gambling, however when your "investment" goes down the toilet no one complains about waste just like no one brags about losing a lot of money playing black jack. Capitalism is the few winners telling the story about the "american dream" while the many losers stay silent in the shadows.

  98. I was a TYT member for like a decade and I was so incredibly disappointed when they went down that path... They began to adopt right wing framing over the years and started to adopt "twitter brain" sometimes turning it into a shouting match with online caricatures. That annoyed the crap out of me but I ignored it up until the trans issue. That's when I had to cancel my membership and stop watching. For them to go from calling out the main stream media and "bothsidesism" only for them to create their own version of it and call it "moderate progressivism" or whatever has been the saddest things I have ever witnessed in media. Even sadder that they seem completely oblivious to it.

To pretend as if Democrats and progressives haven't made pandemic restrictions a political priority over the past couple years is to be completely divorced from reality. No one cares whether a specific restriction was imposed by a specific Democratic politician, the fact is the political perception is that "the left" is in favor of those restrictions and "the right" is not. That perception translates into an overall approval rating of Biden and the Democrats in the minds of a lot of voters. The most recent study from the UK shows that when it comes to the Delta variant there is only a 1/3rd reduction in transmission of the virus between people who are fully vaccinated in the same household. And that difference is almost nonexistent if the people were vaccinated over 2 months ago. They found that the viral loads are nearly identical if you're vaccinated vs unvaccinated. The main difference is that you will clear that virus faster if you're vaccinated and of course you may not even experience symptoms if you're vaccinated. People seem to have forgotten "asymptomatic transmission" when it comes to Covid. It's not like that has magically gone away, it still exists. You can get Covid and pass it and not know it. You're much less likely to be hospitalized or die if you're vaccinated, however it does not protect that much from transmission. They were never designed to stop transmission. People SHOULD NOT go around the older people in their family thinking that they can't spread Covid if they are vaccinated. Especially if they were vaccinated months ago. This culture war over vaccination is really really dumb.... The right spreads misinformation and then the left gets baited into combatting that misinformation and end up also spreading misinformation.

Nikki Haley is pretty much the only one who has announced anything. If she hadn't I would guess she would be polling at 1% instead of 6%. If Liz Cheney is at 3% without even saying anything I wouldn't be surprised to see her at 8-10% if she actually announced she was running. Trump has basically been campaigning for the past 6 months and he was the last president, so 50% is hardly a blowout or anything.

  142. Covid has already been endemic for awhile. After the more infectious variants emerged, there was never a plan to stop someone from getting infected indefinitely from Covid. It has been circulating amongst vaccinated, unvaccinated, pets, and wildlife. The myocarditis was more of a concern for younger people who were less susceptible to being sick or hospitalized to begin with. Not the general population. That is why the data is "noisy" when you're looking at people under 40.

So testing people a week or two after vaccination when their circulatory antibodies are at their highest is pretty flawed when most of the population got vaccinated many months ago.... Also we still don't know how long the boosters will last. That information will probably come out of Israel first. However I'm pretty sure the plan isn't to give people boosters every two weeks. The study I was referring to is titled: "Community transmission and viral load kinetics of the SARS-CoV-2 delta (B.1.617.2) variant in vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals in the UK" It's from the same Lancet publication that Sam was quoting from. The problem is that people who are vaccinated are also less likely to get tested so you have no idea who could be a carrier. So spreading the idea that people who are vaccinated cant transmit the virus has only caused the the virus to spread more.

A 10% mortality would suggest that people can have immunity or acquire immunity. A 100% mortality even at 10% infection would suggest there is no recourse and given enough time everyone on that cruise ship would die eventually and if that virus made it to land, then everyone in that country would eventually die regardless of whether the infection rate was slower.

The number of buffalo a couple hundred years ago pretty much equaled the number of cows in the US today. Also I never said we a required to eat cows at the same rate we do today. People are fixated on cows as if that is the only measurement for meat consumption. Rabbits are highly sustainable and have a super low carbon footprint. You can also choose not to buy pork and chicken from factory farms, but rather local farms that practice sustainability. We cannot sustain our current ecosystem on just plants. Even our industrial agriculture relies on fossil fuels in the form of petrochemicals for pesticides and fertilizers.

  239. We spent about 2 million years evolving into hunter gatherers. Cooking actually makes vegetables more palatable than meat. As long as it's fresh there is almost no meat that you couldn't eat raw. However there are quite a few plants that are toxic when eaten raw. The discussion about sustainability has to involved both plants AND animals. You cannot create the ecosystem that exists today with just plants. Maybe that means switching to smaller animals and insects, but fossil fuels and petrochemicals for fertilizers and pesticides are basically what modern agriculture relies on. That isn't sustainable even if you took cows out of the equation.

Of course this is on a continuum so it's not like your protection is perfect at 5 months or completely gone by 7. Also I haven't seen anything comparing vaccinated adults to children when it comes to being asymptomatic or transmission so I'm not sure where you're getting that from.

The regulations should be based on the job function not an arbitrary rule in order to generally coerce people to getting a vaccine. If Republicans decided to create a regulation through OSHA to drug test everyone every week or prevent women from taking birth control because they decided to make up a work hazard related to birth control side effects, we would be up in arms. The fact that so many progressives have latched onto this idea of vaccine mandates and school closures over the past year is one of the dumbest things I've seen politically in all my life.

Recent studies show that fully vaccinated adults transmit the Delta variant almost as easily as people who are unvaccinated (See the UK study published a few days ago). If you're vaccinated you can still spread the virus and we've known this for months. In fact countries with much higher vaccination rates had the same spike in cases over the summer as we did. Yet we're still acting as if mandating that everyone get vaccinated is the most important issue for the 2% of the population that may be immunocompromised. When vaccines first came out it was seen as a personal protective, and a "vaccine passport" was seen as a joke, but now suddenly mandates have become a culture war issue. Even if the Right is wrong, their messaging is going to resonate with parents and the working class than an elitist message of "we know what's best for you". Progressives really need to ask themselves if this is the message they want to constantly put out there. To me this is similar to prohibition where progressives at the time fought against alcohol consumption. Even today alcohol causes deaths directly and indirectly (drunk driving accidents, etc.) every single day, yet we decided that "freedom" is better than telling people what they can and cannot consume.

What we don't know is whether it was individual supervisors not caring who they were hiring or if it was something else. Also keep in mind that the families and kids involved sought out this work to begin with. It's not like they were completely oblivious to what they were doing. Like I sad we shouldn't infantilize people and pretend they don't have agency in what they are doing. We should ask why they are working there and what the alternatives are.... Instead we're only focusing on the "evil company" without offering alternatives. I'm all for community efforts as well as providing a safety nets and aid for people. But that should be part of the conversation before fining companies and forcing them to throw a lot of people out of work... My biggest problem is only looking at it from one side of the equation, because I can guarantee that if there were legal, safer, and better alternatives, then those immigrants would have already choose those options and wouldn't be working at meat plants. But when you have language and legal issues, then your options are FAR more limited than your average US citizen. A lot of times these "under the table" and "legally questionable" jobs are all people have. For some families, taking those jobs away might be the difference between being poor and living in poverty.

  340. Most cases of "long covid" end after 3 months. Most research on long covid has been defined as people self-reporting symptoms that last longer than 4 weeks. A small number of rare cases of covid have people with symptoms longer than 6 months. Somehow this has been mistranslated in the media as a large percentage of the population having long term disabilities. This is not the case. People are simply taking the extreme cases and pretending that it impacts a large percentage of people including children. This is misinformation.

  346.  @ywtcc  It's much easier to compare economics and power. For example just compare the earning power of women vs men as well as the leadership positions of men vs women in a society. You could also base it on the percentage of women vs men in the workforce to account for women who choose more traditional gender roles (housewife, etc.). However that wouldn't account for women who are forced into those roles because of societal pressures or laws (like in Saudi Arabia) so you have to account for that as well. Generally I would measure oppression as a function of individual and group aspirations that are pitted against societal obstructions.

I didn't take your comment as advocating slavery because I understood the context of what you were talking about so try not to take what I say out of context or make other implications. Secondly someone can experience stress all the time through a job, leadership, pregnancy, sports activity, etc. it doesn't mean they are being oppressed. Third, surveys and "self reporting" is not as reliable as other methods. Corporate power is just as important as political power. Which is why I correctly used the term "power" instead of "politics" because I wasn't just referring to government power. I was referring to all kinds of power dynamics. For example you can measure various types of members who get promoted at an organization (corporate, educational, etc.) and measure the ratio of people who started vs. get opportunities and promotions over time. I already responded to your criticism when I brought up infant mortality. Lying about that is really not a good look.

Simply because I think she's naturally antagonistic to change and this is an example of that. There's no point to it. As far as #2, this is what we have been doing already. There's no point in making it official US policy just so Putin can turn it into more propaganda. There have been numerous peace talks already and we can only listen to the Ukrainians for what is "enough" or "not enough" to fight the war. We support Ukraine without direct war with Russia until the American people, the Ukrainians, or the Russians lose the will to continue. We get a stalemate and then borders are drawn based on the situation on the ground. Sanctions mean nothing to a guy who wants to control Ukraine's fossil fuel. Ultimately it is up to the Ukrainians and the Russians to figure out were they stand when they get sick of killing each other. We aren't going to be able to figure that out for them.

The only influence the US really has is to stop supporting Ukraine and let Russia take what it wants and kill Zelenskyy. The only political decision is to support Ukraine or not. Regardless of whether Ukraine is a war or not, they get to send weapons to Ukraine and US interests are intact. This is different than other places that are antagonistic to the US where direct conflict with the US is feeding the machine. The only "assurance" we should be concerned about is direct conflict with Russia. We've always lived in a representative democracy not a direct democracy. So it has nothing to do with being "undemocratic" as is defined by the country we're living in as opposed to something fictional. Elected leaders have always taken broad directives from the people and implemented details. That's how our system works. Just because we don't discuss soybean regulations doesn't make soybean regulations "undemocratic". If every citizen was involved in every decision the government wouldn't function. Elected leaders direct the military and we elect those leaders. TMR talking about it on YouTube doesn't magically change how that works.

But I also think it is silly to believe that the US can somehow perfectly balance the amount of support given to Ukraine to get the "perfect amount of conflict". We don't have magic control over this conflict. No one does. We have no idea how much support Russia is getting from other countries. We have also been constantly surprised by how effective Ukraine has been. Zelenskyy has been gathering support he needs to take back areas that Russia took over and that support is not coming from just the US. We can't even figure out how to control the conflicts that we start (Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.) What makes you think that we have complete mastery over someone else's conflict? We need to get out of this mindset that the US controls everything in the world. Despite special interests at the Pentagon, it isn't beneficial for this war to continue. The entire world is paying for it (inflation, gas prices, heating costs, food, etc.)

Furthermore things like lettuce, broccoli, tomatoes, can have a higher carbon footprint than pork and chicken... Rabbits are an incredibly sustainable source of meat and have a super low carbon footprint. Most of the studies done on meat and climate change focus purely on factory farmed cows fed mostly grain. They don't even look at 100% grassed cows which have a MUCH lower carbon footprint, because they DON'T eat grain and require large grasslands to graze on and all that grass absorbs more carbon.

  429. To me it seems that both vaxxers and anti-vaxxers are choosing a hill to die on. At some point we're going to have to just let people take their own risk with being unvaccinated. Yes there is a tiny percentage of immunocompromised people, but is that really who the vaccine mandates are for? Not really. Vaccinated people can still transmit the virus, just slightly less so and for a shorter amount of time. The main reason for the mandates has always been to get as many people vaccinated as possible. So you really have to figure out if these constant battles are really worth it. Covid is pretty much here to stay, eventually the entire population is going to get infected with it at some point. Vaccines will reduce your symptoms and keep you from dying (for the most part), but it's not going to stop it forever.

The people who have stronger resistance against the variants are the people who already caught Covid and generated long lasting memory B cells. This is why several countries have started lifting restrictions and started moving towards mitigating symptoms. Shaming public figures that don't want to get vaccinated really isn't actually helping anything at this point.

Just because businesses have a sale when people get a bonus at the end of the year (and the Alaska oil dividend is no different than a bonus at the end of the year from any other job), doesn't mean that a UBI won't increase rent. You don't use a "bonus" to pay for rent or your mortgage. A UBI is specifically meant to be used as INCOME. So if you're paying $800 a month in rent, suddenly your new budget for rent becomes $1600 or more. Which is good in the short term, however businesses will just respond by raising prices on rent. If you think that people will not be greedy and do that, then you're just being naive. Then what happens to all of those safety nets that people opted out of when the inevitable inflation starts hitting? You weaken the ability for society to take care of people who fall through the cracks by leaving it up to the market.

There is no concrete model that economists can point to that says "That's how a UBI would effect the economy". The only times it has been implemented is in small populations for specific needs (a few villages, some impoverished people, etc), not across the board for an entire country. Again, I have no problems with socialism that targets a specific need or natural monopolies. However I think it's foolish to not be concerned about relying on a market that has left so many people behind.

You can pretend that a lot of people don't have concerns over UBI or you can work towards addressing the concerns that people raise. Which do you think is more effective? Just like UBI, flat taxes are much easier to "manage", but they proportionally end up hurting the middle class, poor, and disenfranchised. A UBI pretends that a flat income can fix everything without repercussions, which is just as naive as a flat tax. Comparing targeted programs to a flat income is just not a valid comparison because they are not solving the same problems.... No one has yet to answer the simple question as to why rent would not be raised if everyone suddenly had an extra $1000 a month and what effect that would have on the economy in the long term. Nor has anyone answered the concern over weakening safety-nets as people are forced to opt out of them for a UBI as Yang plan does. I'm not completely against a UBI, I just need to see a lot more evidence besides puppies and rainbows.

We use the labor of poor and disenfranchised people to make food production, manufacturing, and construction cheap, but the reality is most of that can be replaced by automation, robots, drones, etc. However the capitalist class has no incentive to invest in expensive automation. AI is a threat under the current system because it's cheap so people can make money from it without requiring a big investment that other forms of automation require. As long as we have a system where productivity gains only benefit the capitalists and profit/growth is the only way of maintaining an economy then inequality will continue to rise along with pollution, poverty, crime, war, and everything that comes with fighting over scarcity.

I don't know what Jimmy has been saying, but the transmissibility of the virus in vaccinated households has already been tested and they found that it was only a 30% reduction in transmission and that reduces if you were vaccinated over two months ago. They found that the viral loads were nearly identical with someone who is unvaccinated, and the main reason transmissibility was reduced in the vaccinated groups, was because the virus stays longer in someone who is unvaccinated. It's not unreasonable to discuss this in the context of having different public rules for vaccinated vs unvaccinated people. Males transmit the virus roughly 30% more than females and yet we don't have different rules for men in public.

  486. My position on vaccines hasn't changed at all in the past decade and I really never understood the crazy political debate we've had over the past few years. All vaccines do is trick your body into thinking it's infected so that it can create protections against future infection. If you've had the virus and recently recovered, there's no need to get vaccinated. If you haven't, then you should get vaccinated if the virus is dangerous, especially if you're vulnerable. All long term research into Covid has shown this to be true and there is nothing magical or sinister about the mRNA vaccines other than the mechanism it uses to trick your body into thinking it's infected.

However, they don't stop transmission and mutations will still happen. The new antibody treatments are the best weapon for immunocompromised individuals who cannot produce enough antibodies on their own. That would stop the likelihood of new variants, because variants incubate in immunocompromised people who cannot fight the virus, but the odds that those treatments will be made widely available in the "global south" countries let alone available to poor rural areas in those countries is highly unlikely anytime soon. Furthermore, let's not forget that there is still a viral reservoir in numerous animals all over the world that have been infected with Covid. Where the virus can also mutate and spread. Covid moving forward is less about stopping a pandemic and more about living with an endemic virus that will end up being a new seasonal cold/flu virus.

Yet we still do travel bans for political reasons. It wasn't effective when Trump did it and it's not effective when Biden does it. The WHO said that travel bans were unnecessary with Omicron and yet we did it anyway.   559. Excuse me guys, but there several studies, including one published just a few days ago CLEARLY showing that natural immunity gives a stronger immunity to the variants than the vaccines do. "Break through" cases are much more common with vaccinated people than they are with people who have already had Covid. So that "consistency" argument is kind of bunk, the vaccine has less consistency than people who have already had Covid and less overall effectiveness when it comes to the variants. So on that point Joe is correct. Furthermore the flu virus mutates constantly, far more than Covid has, so that's the reason why we have yearly flu vaccines and why those vaccines are. There isn't anything magical about the Pfizer, Moderna, or J&J vaccines. All they do is simulate an infection so that your body can build antibodies, no different than if you were to get Covid. Of course It is better to get vaccinated than to risk the complications with Covid, but it is a fact that having Covid gives you better immunity to subsequent infections because you're exposed to the full spectrum of the virus and not just the spike proteins.

People still wore masks after vaccination in early 2021 because they could still transmit the disease and studies supported that. We knew about asymptomatic transmission even before vaccination. 2. Saying it is a "testing mandate" is like saying that the Republicans are "not banning abortions", they are just making it difficult for abortion clinics to operate and opening up abortion recipients to civil lawsuits. Sam has no idea what he is talking about in this regard. The fact that it is possible to catch Covid again is irrelevant. You can also catch covid after being vaccinated and people have caught it multiple times after being vaccinated. A lot of people in the media, including yourselves, just made an assumption that the reduction in transmission was the same as the reduction in symptoms, hospitalizations, and deaths. The original research on the vaccines never talked about "transmission" because they were only designed to reduce deaths not stop transmission. However it is absolutely idiotic to act as if MSNBC is anywhere close to the blatant lies of Fox News, OAN, Newsmax, etc. Having a bias, opinion, or sensationalizing a story is not the same as knowing the truth and purposely lying to your audience because it gets better ratings when you spread conspiracy theories.

The working theory was that the latest variant came from someone with HIV. If you're immunocompromised a vaccine may not do anything for you to begin with. So you can just as easily say that the viruses have a better chance to mutate in countries with high rates of HIV and since the vaccines don't stop transmission of the coronavirus, you could have the same situation regardless.

The right sound like idiots and the left sound like elitist a holes. 1. Even if you're vaccinated you can spread Covid. You're probably less likely to spread it, but the jury is still out on how much less especially when it comes Delta and other variants. Countries with even higher vaccination rates than the US experienced the same spike in cases over the summer and part of that is people feeling more comfortable in groups because they've been vaccinated. So there is probably a psychological component there as well, but the bottom line is the idea that somehow you're not spreading Covid if you're vaccinated is just plain false. 2. People who have had Covid have as much or greater immunity than people who are vaccinated. This is pretty common knowledge at this point based on numerous studies. YES there is a chance that you can get Covid again, but you can also catch Covid after being fully vaccinated. IN EITHER CASE you are far less likely to be hospitalized or die after you've built an immunity to it. All vaccines do is simulate an infection so that your body builds an immune response. Not sure why people think this mechanism somehow doesn't work when you get infected with the actual virus.

It's not that the vaccines didn't work or weren't effective, they clearly were, but there was a concerted effort to push the narrative that naturally acquired immunity offered no protection... I was reading a pretty comprehensive article in the British Medical Journal where people wondered why the US was not taking into account naturally acquired immunity in it's vaccination policy. There were these tiny, incomplete, studies that promoted "vaccine only" immunity that were promoted, while the larger more comprehensive studies that clearly showed that natural immunity was a thing, were entirely ignored and they pointed out ties a few in the CDC had to pharmaceutical companies. It became entirely politicized in this country, whereas nearly everywhere else in the world people understood that once you recovered from Covid you were less likely to to have a reinfection and if you did, you were far less likely to be hospitalized. Which is no different than a "breakthrough " infection. It's the same reason why poor countries had a tough time getting vaccinations, because it became an easier sell in rich countries with deep pockets, even if tens of millions of those vaccine doses ended up expiring and wasted. The profit motive literally kills and people really need to understand these nuances.

The only reference I see to "6 times more likely" is the study back in study back in the Sept that suggested that boys are 6 times more likely to get myocarditis from the Pfizer vaccine than Covid. Then there's the study in January using VAERS data which shows an increased risk for myocarditis among young males and mRNA vaccination but doesn't compare it to Covid infections. Nothing I've seen has ever been really definitive on the topic. The problem is that there seems to be no real incentive to study it thoroughly and just dismissing real concerns as "anti-vaxxer" because of politics is absolute nonsense.

Vaccination has nothing to do with stopping the spread of the virus, this was known months after the vaccines were made available and has been confirmed by studies since them. Joe Rogan was referring to transmission not just "breakthrough infections" or symptomatic covid which is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT when talking about transmission. We started wearing masks again because vaccinated people could asymptomatically still transmit the disease when Delta was prevalent. With Omicron transmissibility is even higher, but even under Delta studies were showing a high rate of transmission. However, the media was still pretending as if vaccinations were stopping transmission when that was never what they were designed to do. So Joe is somewhat correct on that point.

But your brilliant idea is that if those systems fail and people have no air to breath, then they should just wear cloth masks 😂 People get so caught up in a culture war that they end up sounding like complete idiots. You really need to come out your bubble. I'm not the one virtue signaling over these mandates going away. If you're going to do that, then you need to provide some clear evidence on its effectiveness instead of just assuming you know more about the air quality inside planes than the people who build and operate them.

Sorry, but that makes absolutely no sense to me. People like Dave would rely on people like you who would show up to work thinking they need to when they really don't. There have been studies showing that people who think they need to work extra hours and spend more time at a job don't actually get ahead compared to other workers. Don't be that person who gets taken advantage of at a workplace because you're doing things you really don't need to be doing.

  630. I used to point out repeatedly that Tulsi started her poltiical career bashing gay people. She was literally part of a religious cult that her father started. She changed her stance on gay rights sometimed around when Hillary Clinton did. Tulsi-bots pretended that people have the right to change their minds, but if you have that mindset against gay people as an adult it really goes to your overal judgement and morality as a person at that point. Clearly she was just pretending to be pro gay later in order to get elected.

He used the "twitter files" to jump on the bandwagon of the "Hunter Biden laptop" nonsense fervor that was building in the conservative circles as well as the narrative that Elon was pushing that Twitter prior to his takeover was against free speech. Taibbi used that propaganda in order to sensationalize his reporting. Jimmy Dore doesn't know wtf he's talking about when he's interviewing anyone. He doesn't bother researching anything so he always ignorant on any topic he's talking about.. All he knows how to do is feign anger in order and outrage in order to fool his audience into believing he's actually passionate about something. He uses fake outrage in the same way that conservatives do.
