AI isn't going to solve climate change anytime soon, but you guys are seriously uninformed on the impact of AI. Writing emails, papers, and solving math problems is not where AI is goin. AI will have bigger negative impact on jobs than the internet.

@wck They are in many cases, but until we can replace our economic system with something less profit driven, It's also how people feed themselves.

@wck I agree, but what you're missing is the timing.... It could be a decade or longer before that happens and countless lives will likely be destroyed in the process. Change is not a fast process and fundamental change takes even longer. Just think about how long it took for women and minorities to get basic rights... The rich will protect what they have until the last breath and lot of hardship will have to happen before things get better.

@wck I'm not a fan of UBI either, especially as Yang proposed as basically a substitute for other programs. However I agree that some kind of pragmatic or easier to swallow interim solution needs to be branded and proposed. But unfortunately the growing pains means that the status quo will gain a lot more power and influence from AI while the rest of the world is still figuring out this strategy. So simultaneously slowing down the growth and reach of AI through labor movements and legislation while we also figure out the political strategy and branding is not a bad idea.
