Not to be a Debbie Downer, but... The vaccines are the best weapon we have to protect people, however, they do not stop transmission so... We're going to be living with this virus from now on and eventually it will likely mutate into something that isn't as lethal to most people who either have had it or have had enough vaccinations. Although people who are immunocompromised have issues getting vaccinated anyway and unfortunately those are the same people who incubate and mutate viruses.

@bigfatbruce Perhaps, but not necessarily. Viruses mutate in immunocompromised people, because they live inside the person's body for a long period of time. The working theory was that the latest variant came from someone with HIV. If you're immunocompromised a vaccine may not do anything for you to begin with. So you can just as easily say that the viruses have a better chance to mutate in countries with high rates of HIV and since the vaccines don't stop transmission of the coronavirus, you could have the same situation regardless.
