I just think it's really dumb for the left to "die on the hill" of vaccine mandates at this point. Recent studies show that fully vaccinated adults transmit the Delta variant almost as easily as people who are unvaccinated (See the UK study published a few days ago). If you're vaccinated you can still spread the virus and we've known this for months. In fact countries with much higher vaccination rates had the same spike in cases over the summer as we did. Yet we're still acting as if mandating that everyone get vaccinated is the most important issue for the 2% of the population that may be immunocompromised. When vaccines first came out it was seen as a personal protective, and a "vaccine passport" was seen as a joke, but now suddenly mandates have become a culture war issue. Even if the Right is wrong, their messaging is going to resonate with parents and the working class than an elitist message of "we know what's best for you". Progressives really need to ask themselves if this is the message they want to constantly put out there. To me this is similar to prohibition where progressives at the time fought against alcohol consumption. Even today alcohol causes deaths directly and indirectly (drunk driving accidents, etc.) every single day, yet we decided that "freedom" is better than telling people what they can and cannot consume.

@sirius1696 Again, do you understand that you can STILL transmit the virus when vaccinated? That UK study I just mentioned showed that for the delta variant viral loads between vaccinated and unvaccinated were no different, and spread of the virus (delta variant) between vaccinated person to another vaccinated person is almost as easy as it is if they were unvaccinated. You can reduce symptoms, hospitalizations and deaths with the vaccine, but we are clearly not reducing transmission by a large degree with the vaccines. So when you say "endanger the public" you can only apply that to masks, because masks (good ones) are still the only effective way of stopping transmission.
