I keep saying this over and over, but it's no different than what MLK said about the "white moderates" and the liberals who use the language of civility at the expense of people's rights. In his mind they were more dangerous than the KKK, because they normalize the bigotry. That's what Bill Maher is doing. He calls himself an ally, but under the guise of being "civil" or making a funny joke he'll downplay the bigoty and discrimination.
