@exiledhebrew1994 Bulshit. Sanders is just trying to get help to people as quickly as possible. Dismantling the current bill and starting over will take a lot of time. Passing this bill and doing another one for 2000$ would be far quicker.

You people need to realize that Sanders cannot pass bill by himself. Yelling at people might be satisfying for you, but it doesn't exactly get shit done. Because it would take time to completely dismantle this bill and start over that's why.... Passing this bill and doing another clean bill for a check would be the fastest way to get aid to people.

@exiledhebrew1994 Again, get your head on straight. You're not going to magically get rid of all the Republicans in the House and Senate or the corporate democrats. So what's your solution? Nothing? No Bill? Because McConnell has been perfectly fine with that. These negotiations have been going on for months. You're not going to snap your effing fingers and be able to get a perfect bill. Your two solutions are to take what you can get or get nothing. Or is your solution to want to wait until the midterm elections to vote for a new Congress?

Because you can't wave a effing magic wand and get $2000. The Dems tried to get more before the election and the GOP said "no". Dismantling the current bill and renegotiating a new one will take time. Passing it and then making a clean bill for $2000 would be a faster way to get aid to people.

@rgwf1908 What accomplishments exactly? Let's see... Trump put a gaping hole in our debt and deficit by giving more tax cuts to the rich. Decimated small farms in a useless trade war that required Federal subsidies just to keep afloat. Oh and guess what? The trade deficit with China is even HIGHER than when Trump took office. Then he blew a hole in the deficit again by raising the Military budget by hundred billion or more. While simultaneously trying to defund the CDC over and over, disbanding the USC Pandemic Team, and firing the CDC staff who were actually stationed in China and COULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING before the pandemic spread all over the world. We sank hundreds of billions of dollars into the military and a useless "wall" that NEVER EVEN GOT BUILT (Several miles at most, the rest was just replacing existing barriers). Meanwhile hundreds of thousands of Americans died in a pandemic, millions are lining up at food banks, while Trump can't even get relief passed to save the millions more who are on the verge of homelessness.... Yeah great effing success story there. All you people do is listen to Trump lie about himself all the time and you think that's reality. I bet you think "reality tv" is real too.

@rgwf1908 Sorry, but you're not really saying anything or making an actual argument. You seem brainwashed by some sort of ideology. On your one comment on the pandemic. A lot of countries got hit by the pandemic, but countries like Taiwan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand. Japan, etc. took it seriously in the beginning and we didn't... The death tolls in those countries are a tiny fraction of what we have here (even when you account for population) and their economies are doing fine. In fact life has been more or less normal for them for months The fact that the richest country in the world could not do anything is an absolute joke. It's a failure of leadership. South Korea was testing their entire population in February while Trump was golfing holding campaign rallies and pretending that concerns over the virus was a "hoax" and pretending that the virus was going to "disappear". He then went on to downplay the virus and encouraged people to not wear masks. Never mind all the numerous failures of not replenishing our national supply of PPE, not making testing available, and putting his son in law in charge of handling the pandemic. There was absolutely no national plan to speak of for months and this country paid the price. Trump has fooled millions of working class people so I wouldn't assume anyone who supports Trump is rich, just people caught up in a cult of personality and fooled by a pathological liar. Sorry, but you still haven't listed any actual accomplishments....

@lol_Stranger He didn't want to be president. The only reason he ran in 2016 was to get the country to focus on the issues that he cared about such as health care, rebuilding the middle class, getting more money in the hands of working people, and rolling back the military industrial complex. This is not a game to Bernie Sanders, he truly cares about these issues far more than his own power.

@lol_Stranger He didn't quit. He campaigned until he no longer had a path to the nomination. That's how this works. Sander's did thousands of speeches, pushed through a heart attack and kept on campaigning for the issues he believed in. He could have easily retired years ago and not given a crap. With the way you people treated Sanders, it's no wonder more people don't try and stand up for you.

Trump was only putting on a show for you. If he wanted the 2K checks he would have negotiated that WEEKS AGO. Instead he went golfing while millions started losing unemployment. Then put out a few tweets and a speech to pretend that he cares, then signed the bill anyway because it was all just a big joke.

@johnny-qx6it Well that's why Bernie made his plea to Trump... Easier to change the mind of one person who has nothing to lose, vs McConnell and hundreds of Republicans in Congress. I seriously don't know what the alternative is here. The Democrats already added 2K to the bill and the Republicans blocked it.... Do you think it would be somehow easier to negotiate a complete reversal of everything that was agreed upon? We could spend weeks more renegotiating something while lots of people around the country go homeless, or we could get by with what we have and try for more. The choice SUCKS and we could yell and scream all day about it, but at the end of the day I really don't know what else to do here. Trump changes his mind from day to day. So it's not a bad strategy to try to convince him to get by with what we have. Trump has no control over McConnell and the Senate. So he can demand all he wants, but if the GOP are not on board, there is nothing we can do.

Again it's easier to change the mind of one person than it is to change the minds of 50 GOP Senators and Mitch McConnell. The Senate Republicans are not going to do what a lame duck president wants when they made it perfectly clear FOR MONTHS NOW that they don't want more individual aid. Talking about what Senate Republicans "could do" if they were entirely different people is pretty irrelevant. Yes it's BS, but it's where we are.... And yelling at Sanders as if he can wave a magic wand to get what he really wants doesn't change that one bit.

@johnny-qx6it And Trump just signed the bill... I told you he was fickle. Trump will change his mind in a heart beat. If Trump REALLY wanted $2000 checks he would have gotten the GOP on board before the negotiations started, but he didn't. He says a bunch of BS in public to get attention, but behind the scenes he couldn't care less. The real test is to see if Trump will push for $2000 checks in another bill. I'm not holding my breath, but if he ACTUALLY cares (instead of just putting on a show) he will do so immediately. My guess is that he will just say he will get people checks if he can stay president.

@rgwf1908 All you have to do is read... 1. Trump more than doubled the deficit and increased the debt by trillions through is increases the military budget and giving more tax cuts to the wealthy. 2. The trade deficit with China is higher than when Trump took office. 3. The NSC Pandemic Team was disbanded under Trump's administration. 4. Most of the CDC staff in China were fired under Trump's administration just before the pandemic. 5. After Trump "fell in love" with Kim Jong Un. North Korea continued their nuclear program and now they have missiles that can reach the US. Those are all facts. Anymore questions?

Trump is so "pro life" taking tens of thousands of kids away from their families. Hundreds of kids still lost in the system, and will probably never see their families ever again. Trump is so "pro life" with the dozen Americans he rushed through execution in his final days in office. Maybe if the Democrats added those two seats in GA something could get passed under Biden. But literally nothing is on the table right now. That is why Sanders is asking Trump to pass what we have. @FlyingArtz. Well... Kentucky just voted to re-elect McConnel, so what now? McConnell has been blocking any additional aid and demanding corporate protections and bailouts for months now.... Republicans like McConnel because he can raise a lot of money from corporate donors and is successful at getting what he wants. Protecting corporate power is the easiest way to re-election because you can raise a lot of money and be the loudest voice in every election regardless. You will have the money on your side as well as the media. So you can say "vote for a new Congress" as much as you want, but as long as there is money in politics you might as well be pissing in the wind. Meanwhile we have a bill on the table that could be the difference between a lot of people going homeless or not. Obviously it's not an ideal bill, but those are the hard choices....

Trump should have negotiated for 2K checks WEEKS AGO however Trump's representatives (Steve Mnuchin, etc.) were perfectly happy with $600. The only reason why there was $600 is because people like Bernie Sanders were demanding $1200 so they made a compromise for $600. Then Trump decided to demand 2K checks at the very last minute and then go golfing all weekend just as people's unemployment was running out. If Trump is serious about $2K checks then he should be pushing McConnel and the Republicans in the Senate to pass the bill that just came out of the House for $2K checks. So lets see if he puts federal money were his mouth is....
