@Skra67b Nearly all other developed countries have some form of single payer or socialized medicine. We're the only country where medical bills is the #1 cause of personal bankruptcy. You probably should research the bs you believe instead of just repeating it. Because the specific issue that the OP is referring to was caused by out of control capitalism by the healthcare industry and insurance companies. People in other countries aren't spending thousands for x-rays and they don't let people die who are too poor for treatment.

@LionMartell Again, there were far more crashes and "panics" before the Fed than afterwards. There's no doubt that the Fed has always worked in the interest of the wealthy, but you're making the wrong argument here. The biggest weapon is money, the more money in the hands of a few people, the worse it is for everyone else. The founders never put a "check and balance" against money/wealth, but that is the main engine of influence and control in our society. Money controls the courts, the laws passed, and the countries we attack. Government can only act based on the forces that act upon it. Corruption is the influence of money and profit, Democracy is the influence of people. Unchecked corruption is not going to save us or the planet.

@Skra67b So you think it's reasonable to compare costs of things in 3rd world countries vs. 1st world countries? Guess what else is cheaper in Mexico and Egypt? Everything....

The consolidation of corporate power and money is far more influential and dangerous. The reason we have people like Soros, Epstein, Bezos, Sheldon Adelson, etc. in the first place is because over the decades we've lowered taxes on the rich and allowed them to consolidate money and become powerful.... The only direct power from socialism is our military, the president can randomly kill people and threaten other countries with that power. So our military industrial complex needs to be far smaller than it is. Other than that there is no real "power" from highways, parks, libraries, post offices, public schools, or health insurance, that is nothing more than a silly scare tactic.

@LionMartell First off the markets crashed far more often before the Fed.... I'm no fan of the Fed, but if you're going to make an argument about market crashes then you should know basic history. Everything else you mentioned has absolutely no relationship to the gold standard or the Fed. Also I have no idea what "You" you're talking about. There are lots of countries with super low taxes and little to no "socialism", they are called 3rd world countries. Everyone else figured out that providing essential infrastructure to people, makes a society flourish. Then there are the people who benefit greatly from socialism their entire life, but pretend everything they have was all create by magic. They also pretend that just because some bad things are done through the government, then it must be all bad. Meanwhile they never have to think about getting dysentery from a diseased water supply.

@Derheight No, actually I got the point. it was just a very dumb point. Also it's not $23,639 for a single x-ray. You people really have issues making apples to apples comparisons...
