It's not a lie, because the effectiveness of natural immunity against reinfection has been studied numerous times. The problem is that the CDC selectively publishes certain studies that aren't even peer reviewed... The most obvious issue with the study is the fact that it was based on "Covid-like illnesses" which included things like "nausea"... Secondly it attempts to draw a conclusion with the broader population by only looking at hospitalized patients. Lastly it directly contradicts several much LARGER studies that say the opposite opposite about natural immunity. Such as: -"SARS-CoV-2 antibody-positivity protects against reinfection for at least seven months with 95% efficacy" -"Incidence of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 infection among previously infected or vaccinated employees" -"Necessity of COVID-19 vaccination in previously infected individuals" All of these studies and more clearly indicate that natural immunity is as effective and sometimes more effective as vaccination. Furthermore it is shown than people who have had covid are more likely to have reactions to the vaccines. Being honest about natural immunity is not the same as telling people to go get infected with Covid.

@toddmorningstar4206 Longer than that of vaccination which has a pretty substantial drop in protection after just 2 months following being fully vaccinated... It's pretty amazing to me that people are told to question "how long does natural immunity last?" while never asking the same question of vaccination... People have been studying natural immunity to Covid for over a year and a half now, long before the vaccines came out. It has been repeatedly demonstrated that people carry lasting immunity to the virus even a year afterwards. The plasma from people that have recovered from Covid is even used to treat people who are severely hospitalized with Covid. Yet when the vaccines came out suddenly people started suddenly pretending as if natural immunity wasn't a thing... Why is that? All vaccines do is simulate an infection so that your body can create the right antibodies. Which is exactly what happens during an actual infection. People still carry memory B cells from the 1918 pandemic as well as 2003 SARS which is actually helping people recover from Covid today. And YES someone who was already infected with Covid can get what is described as "super immunity" or "hybrid immunity" if they get vaccinated on top of their natural immunity. However the baseline natural immunity has already proven to be highly effective and as least as protective as someone who is just vaccinated. Certainly more protective than someone who was vaccinated 4 months ago whose immunity is already waning.

@mark.of.the.beast.6662 No kidding. No one is telling you to get Covid. However there are millions in this country who have already had it. Any policy for an infectious disease should account for people who have already had the disease. Instead we have a policy that is completely without nuance. Vax vs Anti-Vax is pretty much all we get to talk about in this country and I'm sitting here wondering why everything needs to be polarized. In my mind people making an argument that recovering from a virus doesn't give you immunity to a virus are just as crazy as people claiming that getting a vaccine doesn't give you immunity to a virus. They are two sides of the same insane coin.
