@kathleenelias0 You're absolutely right, but we're only adding fuel to that fire every single day by constantly fixating on vaccines and mandates. We're not doing ourselves any favors by saying "I know what's best for you" while laughing at people who get fired from their jobs... We're taking a very dangerous and elitist position here and creating an opening for the right wing in this country who can pretend to care about people's jobs and care about parents and their children.

You could also ban soda and alcohol and save lives every year if we went back to prohibition... Sorry, but an 8% reduction in transmission is really not that much and up until this point we had no problems with the 100 or so kids who died from the flu every year. Parents can do whatever is best for their kids, but I really think progressives are going too far with the militancy over vaccinations. The culture war over vaccinations has gotten out of hand.

@lauraprosser5084 Huh?.. "kill us"? WTF are you talking about? If you're vaccinated you're far less likely to show symptoms, get hospitalized, or die. Furthermore a recent study has shown that the Delta variant spreads nearly as much in vaccinated people as it does with unvaccinated people. Even John quoted only an 8% reduction in transmission here. So what exactly are you arguing? People have seriously lost their damn minds over this nonsense culture war.... Take a step back, breath, be rational.

@SuprousOxide So if someone starts a fire are we obligated to respond with gasoline? Republicans baited people into it and instead of deescalating the nonsense we fed right into it.... First our position on vaccines was "if you want to go around unprotected and potentially die from Covid it's up to you.." Now people are pretending that we'll all die if we don't have vaccine mandates so lets force everyone into it. How did that happen over the course of 6 months? All we did was feed right into their conspiracies and created a highly motivated minority of voters who now have a right to complain about authoritarianism.

@SuprousOxide First off the new strains came from outside the US, specifically from poorer countries where vaccines weren't available and were Covid didn't spike until much later, not from "Republicans". The Delta variant did not come from the US. Again, this culture war nonsense has gotten out of the control. You're pretending I'm the one listening to propaganda meanwhile you're walking around making completely false statements.. Understand the bubble that you're in.

@SuprousOxide Again, Delta still circulated and had a big surge over the summer in countries with far higher vaccination rates than the US. There is nothing what so ever indicating that Delta would be "shut down" in this country, let alone throughout all of the Americas. You really need to get out of this mindset of pretending we are "stopping" transmission with vaccination. Delta spreads almost as much amongst vaccinated people as it does unvaccinated people. Repeat to yourself 10 times: "I can still spread SARS COV-2 if I'm vaccinated" The main thing you're reducing are SYMPTOMS not transmission. And you don't see that you're just as caught up in this culture war as they are... Normally the left would be on the side of workers and yet you have people acting happy about workers getting fired for refusing to protect themselves with a vaccine. All you are doing is giving something more for the Right wing to fight against and you don't even realize it.
