Vaccinations DO NOT stop the Delta variant from spreading. Recent studies show only a slight reduction in spread among fully vaccinated people in a household. So telling kids that they are "protecting others" by getting vaccinated is pretty much a lie... Also the amount of kids who have died from Covid is no different than the number of kids who die from the flu each year... Adults who haven't gotten Covid should get vaccinated to protect themselves, but this over the top militancy over vaccinations has gotten way out of hand.

You would think after a year of talking about "asymptomatic spread" people would know that you can spread a virus regardless of your symptoms, but somehow people have fooled themselves into believing otherwise.

@lduker9731 I do understand how vaccines work. You should try reading a study on transmission of the Delta variant in fully vaccinated households, before correcting people when you don't know what you're talking about. I'm sick and tired of this misinformation constantly repeated about vaccines keeping people from spreading the virus. That isn't what they do. They reduce symptoms and shorten the period that the virus infects a person, but studies show that the viral load is the same and that vaccinated person is still walking around spreading the virus.

@lduker9731 I'm not misrepresenting anything. TYT just don't talk about recent Covid studies on this channel. Again, look at the study on Covid transmission in vaccinated and unvaccinated UK households. They show just a small reduction in transmission among fully vaccinated people compared to unvaccinated people. Just because you're not manifesting symptoms of Covid does not mean you're not infected or spreading it. This is what people need to drill into their heads.... Even more important is that the transmission is greatly increased in those people who are fully vaccinated longer than 2 months. In other words, after two months people who are vaccinated are spreading Covid almost as easily as people who are entirely unvaccinated. You still get some protection from symptoms and from dying, but your viral load is nearly identical to someone who isn't vaccinated. The virus doesn't just bounce off of you and die, that's not how it works. You could be a carrier and spreading it for week or longer and not even know it.

@wadebuck69 A slight reduction is meaningless when you get a substantial reduction in transmission from wearing a mask around people. Also I didn't say Covid was the same as the flu, I said the number of children who have died from the Covid is the same or less as those who have died from the flu each year. Do you not understand the difference between those two statements? One is a general statement, the other is specifically talking about the impact of the virus on children. Furthermore it's probably been over a million Covid deaths in this country, based on all the excess deaths from people who were never tested for Covid. However that doesn't mean we react by injecting all of our kids without thinking it through.

@lduker9731 I'm pretty much the only one thinking clearly because I'm not engaged in this stupid vaccine culture war. I never said the vaccines didn't protect the people taking them. They obviously reduce symptoms and protect from hospitalization and death. However as I have said repeatedly they DO NOT stop the spread of the virus and people need to stop saying that. Furthermore all the variants (Delta, Mu, etc) ALL came from outside this country and the billions who still don't have access to vaccines. Delta came all the way from India. So if you wanted to stop variants you would have prevented the rich countries from hoarding vaccines from the Global South a year ago. We also now have a substantial animal population all around he world who are now catching and spreading Covid, so regardless of who is getting vaccinated or not Covid will continue to spread and variants will continue to be created. We will be living with this virus for years no matter what we do at this point.

The fact that I have to repeat myself is problem with your comprehension. Again. I DID NOT SAY that vaccines did not reduce symptoms and death, nor did I say that adults should not take vaccines if they have not gotten Covid. All of those things YOU decided to interject because you're locked in a stupid vaccine culture war and apparently unable to think outside of those "teams". I commented to make one specific point that we should not lie about the vaccines stopping the spread or protecting others and you decided to turn that into something else because of an idiotic culture war where people do nothing but talk past each other..

Again, refer to the recent study entitled: "Community transmission and viral load kinetics of the SARS-CoV-2 delta (B.1.617.2) variant in vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals in the UK" There is a small reduction in transmission in fully vaccinated households and that reduction is even less if you've ben vaccinated over 2 months ago. I don't have anger and vitriol. I'm the one being attack for making a factual point. You would think that as Progressives care more about facts over attacking people out of blind tribalism. My entire point is to prevent people from thinking they are not spreading virus if they are vaccinated. Which is probably why we had a huge surge over the summer because a lot of people believed this false narrative.

Then instead trying to understand where someone is actually coming from or having a fact based conversation they instead respond with quips and insults. @barneys4236 That study is a pre-print whereas the study I'm referring to has already been peer reviewed, is more recent, and has more data backing it up. Secondly I don't think you're interpreting the abstract correctly. They specifically did not say vaccinated people are "63% less likely" to transmit the virus than unvaccinated people. The study is also a bit strange as they purposely adjusted the results. They have a SAR of 22% and 13% for the unvaccinated and vaccinated groups. Then they decide to adjust the final score in the vaccinated group based on age. Maybe that's the reason why it didn't get peer reviewed. Not sure. What I'm saying is not controversial, look at the article: "Delta variant: Vaccines protect from severe disease but do not stop all transmission" The scientific community has long since acknowledged this fact. Which is why we are supposed to still wear masks indoors regardless of vaccination. It's only controversial here, because people on TYT, other news outlets, and the media keep repeating the idea that you're "protecting others" by getting vaccinated. Repeating that falsehood is only convenient for demonizing unvaccinated people, but it's not really true. At most it's only marginally protective against transmission because of the lower infection time. One thing is for sure, we know that masks are more effective at stopping transmission than a vaccine, so why are healthcare workers, who wear PPE anyways, being fired for not getting vaccinated?

@barneys4236 Again I looked at the study and according to medrxiv it is a "preprint" and hasn't been peer reviewed. If you look at the comments you can see there are several problems with it. The study I provided HAS been peer reviewed. As far as the politifact article. It doesn't specify any studies. It only links to the CDC website. Notice how the CDC article says that vaccines "can reduce spread" not "do reduce spread", because the CDC can't say that for certain. I didn't say vaccines provided no added safety. I said they provide little benefit in reducing the transmission and the difference in transmission between unvaccinated and vaccinated people is almost nonexistent if you were vaccinated over two months ago. My point is tell you and everyone else that: 1. Being vaccinated doesn't stop you from spreading the virus. Repeating that claim is a lie. 2. If you were vaccinated over two months ago you transmit delta just as easily as someone who is unvaccinated. 3. Repeating claim that vaccination stops the spread is dangerous and has caused people to gather more often and probably led to the spike in cases over the summer. 4. Creating mandates to "protect others" is a policy based on a lie. 5. Wearing a mask is far more effective at reducing transmission than being vaccinated. 6. Ending this gd culture war over vaccines that only causes people to scream past each other with constant misinformation.

Deaths are increasing in rural counties in general. Last year it was in Democratic areas because those were densely populated cities. I'm sure part of the deaths are due to culture war nonsense, but I don't think you can make broad assumptions beyond he normal trajectory of a virus that first hits coastal and highly populated areas before spreading to rural areas.

@lduker9731 The virus is continuing to spread because it is endemic. We are long past the point of "stopping" SAR Cov-2. The right wing might be responsible for more hospitalizations and deaths, but the virus itself is something we are going to be living with for years to come.
