This seems like it's just a promotional stunt. Apparently, all his brain interface is doing is controlling the throttle, the steering and braking is being done with his helmet. You can buy a brain interface off the shelf these days that can be used to control a throttle with your mind (by visualizing something) without requiring any kind of surgery. He's also just barely moving enough to go around the track. People paralyzed from the waist down have been driving cars with hand controls for about a century now. So this is currently not actually providing any benefit.

@mercedesquesada4927 I guess I was commenting more on the technology. I know there are devices that can read a persons brain waves without requiring any kind of surgery. Enough to be able to control a throttle. Clearly I'm ignorant as to the technology being used here and there are probably benefits that I'm unaware of, but without more details it just seemed like promotion, since NASCAR is generally used by many companies to promote things.
