It’s jury lotto. Fact is he shouldn’t have been armed with a gun watching a movie. There were signs everywhere stipulating this. The old man got macho and thought he was above the law. Shooting him over popcorn and texting. Very Baffling that he got away with that.

Definitely wrong verdict. Above the law. Had he firstly stuck to the law, he would have been unarmed and this wouldn’t have happened.

@nimue4325 spot on. Im actually watching the Dan Markel case that has had me intrigued since the day he was shot in his drive way. Im from Australia and these trials I watch from America, just amaze me. What I do know is common sense isn’t that common. At times you watch a case and feel it will fall one way or another but often I’m wrong. Juries ? I gather they are intelligent people and law abiding of course. I know that some very intelligent people do not have common sense and aren’t what I call street smart. So it’s a bit of a raffle or lotto on what or which way they think. What you really have to do is look past the quality of a lawyer and go back to the facts. Don’t be stooged. Don’t be swept up by a great defence lawyer or the state’s prosecutor. Go back to the facts. Use your smarts and common sense. This case the Charlie Alderson dentist guy is as guilty as sin but he’s smarter than those on the room and has street smarts. Hopefully the jury in this case go to common sense and realise what happened here. If he doesn’t get found guilty, it will be another case that I’ve watched and just thought, wow, how on earth did they come to that. My county isn’t perfect at all, but more often than not, the right result happens. It’s never fool proof as we know. Innocent people get put away and guilty people walk. America has so many different laws where Australia is federal, not different laws in different states. See what happens with this case. Amazing case of have to say.

@nimue4325 totally agree with you.

@gmimi2 Firstly that’s what’s wrong with your laws. Secondly the cinema stipulated in the doorway and in the opening of the actual cinema room, that no weapons were allowed, meaning prohibited. So he broke a law to start with. Did you watch the trial or 30 min of court tv?

America have a great record of putting the innocent away and letting the guilty off. It’s like court lotto. Seriously, I watched that trial and was gobsmacked he got off. Joke.

@elizabethcompton738 Had he not had the gun where it was disallowed then we wouldn’t be having this convo and a father wouldn’t be shot dead over nothing. That old man got going because he knew he had back up in his pocket. No wonder the country is a mess. It is bottom 3 worst country’s in the world if we take out 3rd world. The gun powder is sniffed from a toddlers age over there and you wonder why the murder rate is astronomical. To take a step further, how on earth is a person allowed an MR15. How on earth are people allowed to own 150 guns. It is so far gone the laws and the culture that the killings will just get higher in numbers. Kids going to school ffs. Why would you want to send your kids to school when you would be in fear until they got home. The high powered guns should have been banned long ago. You want to go hunting then ok but high powered semi automatics not allowed. Guns should be locked up not for walking the streets with. I’m telling you that it’s a lot easier to kill yourself with a gun then jumping off a cliff. That’s why the suicide rate is way up. England years ago and Australia years ago had mass shootings and they didn’t sit on their hands and say ahh well. They changed the laws. Australia has had 1 mass shooting in 30 years England the same. No school shootings for kids to worry about. Maybe If America had half a brain, things would change but guess what, they don’t. It is imploding. That amongst many other things. Country’s once upon a time did look up to the US. I can tell you they do not anymore. It’s painful to watch. Living there it must all seem normal. It doesn’t from a far. It is terrible. Every day a mass shooting. It will never change. Culture. Lastly don’t give me the trump line of oh mental illness. Every other country has similar rates of mental illness. It’s guns. They are the real killer.

The problem started when he broke the law by taking a gun into the cinema. Go to the source. If there’s no gun, there’s no death. Court lotto in America. It’s not the only country but they are all over the place.

Firstly there was meant to be no guns aloud in the cinema. He was thinking he was above the law and yes he was once a part of it. He should have got manslaughter at the least. If he’d stuck to the law in the first place, then there would have been a dispute over a phone and pop corn. You take it from there then. If there’s no gun then old man more than likely would have shut his trap. America let’s these things slide and it’s a free for all. Ridiculous that he got off this. An unarmed man was killed watching a movie. It shouldn’t have happened and again, if he stuck to the law, it stipulates no weapons as you walk in. Very sad that this man died and extremely lucky for the old ex copper to walk free after this.
