  1. It was not a battleship but a Courageous class light battlecruiser. The 2 single main guns were actually 18"/45 Mark II. They were experimental and were found to be not as effective as anticipated and so were not futher developed. AA guns weren't a feature on ANY capital ships at that time as naval aviation had barely began. All navies commision ships to meet future, projected threats, sometimes those threats materialise, sometimes not. The purpose these ships were designed for, that is fast, shallow draught ships to operate in the Baltic sea, never became a reality, and they were quickly redesigned as pioneering aircraft carriers.
