Really? Whats the weather like on your planet?

Because there is no risk of implosion if the compartments of the sinking ship are NOT air tight. Implosion only happens when an airtight compartment goes to such depths that the increasing external water pressure of the surrounding deep sea crushes the sealed area.... if the compartment is open to the sea, then the pressure inside the compartment is the same as that outside the compartment and so no implosion will take place.

The "fleet" being sent is more related to the size of the 41 million square mile Atlantic "haystack" that the Bismarck "needle" was hiding in.

not for 99% of English & German speakers.

And that none of the families of 2000 German sailors who died onboard her raise a storm over the desecration of their final resting place.

Bismarck capsized as she went under. Battleship turrets are not fixed in place, but only have gravity to hold their huge mass in place on football sized ball bearings. When the ship capsized they simply "fell out" of their barbettes and now lay on the sea floor some distance away from the hull. In fact one of the turrets is believed to be crushed beneath the wreck of the Bismarck.

Be in one piece? You mean minus the majority of her superstructure, all her weapons systems knocked out and her armoured hull penetrated and broken multiple times?
3
You mean landed a lucky shot, then got "tag teamed" by 2 superior battleships.

By being designed & built by highly competent experts in the field of marine engineering to withstand the pressure at those depths, and tested thoroughly. The ethnic and age demographic of the engineers who constructed the ROVs was NOT taken into account during the design, construction and testing process.

By some, but not by many.

I think the water pressure at ~15000ft might pose more of a risk to a diver's health.

Bismarck had spent 6 months in the Baltic from late 1940 carrying out sea trials and training its crew. HMS Prince of Wales was the major unit involved in this saga that was a completely untested ship with a completely green crew. That being said its performance at Denmark Strait was exemplary.

Or maybe "they" should dig up your great grandparents graves instead!!!

@Sh4dow682 The ads are only for those who can't be arsed to install adblockers or choose to watch on devices where it is difficult / impossible to install adblockers. The PC / Mac "ubermensch" enmjoy the luxury of watching ad free.

@ricedbroccoli I know the history of the ship, and I've no problem with people choosing to refer to Bismarck as "he" its their assumption that everyone else should do likewise.

But strangely also a She/her.
