  3. Logistical resources issue. The ammount of something you can transport is tightly related to the ammount of carrying capacity you've got. Carrying capacity can be expressed in many ways (total volume/payload, volume per carrier, volume per time unit) and it's largely a product of quality and quantity of the carriers. When using the volga for oil, you have the boats acting as carriers. If you switch to the railway, you basically remove the boats as carriers and need to fill the gap left by them in your carrying capacity by using railcarts, obviously. This would be a problem in itself, as a boat tends to have a bit better capacity than a train, but you need to transport oil, which requires specialised carts So you have a change in quantity and a double change in quality. To upset those things you would need to source more rail carriers. Of course, one can do it, but unless you are a magician, it's going to take quite some time before you substitute the capacity of the ships. Meanwhile, the oil available to you is basically reduced (You cannot transport it, you cannot use it so it's not available).

  5. Well, the 'cool underdog hero' is a favorite trope in Western literature. Probably not a fan of anime, but if you know what I'm talking about, look up Death Note and how they portray the evil protagonist between source material (Japan) and US movie adaptation. I think there's a video on the topic on YouTube. Basically, in the Japanese version, Light (protagonist) is literally an elite: good social skills, good grades, tip-top physical shape, good tennis player etc. In the US version he's a socially awkward nerd that just stumbles upon the power of Gods.

  6.  @alt-monarchist  Well, what can you expect.They are making movies, not documentaries. They are meant to shock and entertain. It's the population that has a problem if they cannot tell the difference. Unfortunetly, with Enemy at the Gates the thing is even worse. The Movie was actually accurate to its source material, which claimed there weren't enough rifles for the people.

  8. The reason why attacks happen in waves is because the last thing you want is to send a bunch of blokes into the no mans land against a relatively fortified enemy position. 'Human waves' got a bad reputation due to how its portrayed in media and pop culture, but that's exactly how you should attack, provided you get them some form of modern support, like artillery or air cover.
