NoScript or uBlock Origin

Any links?

@s8wc3 I checked this site for myself and it also blinks like 1 time and then loads. That takes around 2 seconds tho. Maybe that why I never noticed that before. Still strange. Maybe it blinks for every picture it loads in it's collection.

Try "Adblock Plus" for blocking adds Or "UBlock Origin" for blocking ads and some scripts Or even "NoScript" for blocking JS
1
I never saw the same problem... On my parents PC from 2008 He has some weak CPU and slow Internet

4 seconds for me

Just try NoScript ;-)
1
Adblock Plus for the rescue ;-)
1
@bitterlemonboy Ublock Origin is great too :-)
1
Well... not for his CPU :-)
1
So why I don't have this problem on 100 Mb Internet? and a i7 CPU from 2015 :-)
1
No. He probably don't know about that because 20 years ago browsers didn't have those tools :-)
1
@deadliestvice5356 True. But there are some extensions like uBlock Origin or NoScript to help ;-)
1
Yep!
1
Just install NoScript and you are good to go
1
True. Just try some uBlock Origin or even NoScript to make web pages faster
1
True. His hardware and Internet are just... sad
1
Try Adblock Plus :-)
1
@ciroaldorisio8034 But how would a site owner make money?
1
@ciroaldorisio8034 So we as a community have to make some compromises. I'm ok with small adds banners (NOT animated) but I'm not ok with 10+ tracing scripts on one web page. So I just disable most of those :-)
1
@ciroaldorisio8034 True.
1
But today Internet speeds are much faster than in 2005 ;-) Not optimized sites are shit tho.

Soyboy + developer
1
Hard to tell. But you as a user could just install some extension like Adblock Plus, uBlock Origin or even NoScript to load less shit :-)
1
Because he doesn't know about that
1
And that's kinda fine - I personally don't want to see modern sites that look like something from 2000s. That doesn't mean thatno optimizations are needed anymore :-)

@amigalemming Interesting site, thanks! But I would still recommend to try use some adblockers - Internet looks SO much cleaner.

:-)

To optimize something you need to know more about it. HTML is the lesser problem here: big pictures and embedded video players are worse.
1
* He has a VERY slow CPU - don't be fooled by "an i5 CPU" - that may be a first generation Mobile CPU :-) * His Internet is abysmal. Like my was in 2007
1
Agree
1
A golden rule would be "if your application doesn't have to do half of the things that a web browser must do - don't use Electron". Maybe some kind of news aggregator could be Electron based.
1
Not him, obviously. "Someone else" :-)
1
@SamTheEnglishTeacher Install her some uBlock Origin or even NoScript ;-)
1
@SamTheEnglishTeacher NoScript disables much more that just adds - it could disable the whole JS if you want to :-)
1
@SamTheEnglishTeacher "I use it if I'm doing something I'd not want anyone to ever know about" - your ISP still knows. Use TailsOS instead ;-)
1
Just spare some time for optimizing this stuff ;-)
